Dev Blog: Themyscira Stand Alone & 2024 Roadmap
Hey everyone, we hope you had a fantastic holiday season and are geared up to jump into 2024 with us. Let's skip the fluff and dive straight into the meat of this month's dev blog, where we have two exciting updates to share: February's Themyscira update and the roadmap for our scheduled releases this year.
February's Themyscira Update:
As we step into the third month of standalone development, (Henshin initiated the project back in November) we currently have a tested version, patiently awaiting new content from SR7. The expected content bottleneck is in progress, and we're working diligently to address it. It's crucial to be transparent here – the standalone version takes precedence over Unity integration. To ensure a complete version by the end of February, we've temporarily shifted Unity implementation to low priority. This means the full Themyscira experience might take a few additional months to integrate fully into Unity. However, we guarantee, there will be a content complete and playable version by the end of February, we just can't guarantee it's in Unity as well.
Additionally, a few changes are in the works, notably the introduction of a new "support splash screen." This will appear upon exiting or completing content. Furthermore, we'll be releasing multiple versions simultaneously, detailed as follows:
Patreon / Itch.io Exclusive Version: This will provide the complete Themyscira experience as intended by SR7. All content in Themyscira will be accessible on PC, Mac, and Android.
Public Version (Newgrounds, Itch): A fun experience with several characters fully content complete, playable on any device with a web browser!
2024 Roadmap:
Given the development of three versions of SU, we believe it's crucial to share the release schedule for bi-monthly updates up to October. While the contents of the updates are subject to change, here's our anticipated version release schedule:
Feb 29th: Themyscira Update (Standalone, Unity)
April: SU Unity
June: SU Unity
Aug: SU Unity
Oct: Standalone
In the off months, we'll also be rolling out an Android update. We sincerely appreciate your continued support, and for any questions, feel free to reach out on Patreon or Discord.
Cheers,
SmokeShank

You said that the Themyscira Event will be a separate game. I would like to know if you could change the Text Font to a more complete one? Because I use a tool to translate SU into my language, but sometimes the dialogs are visually ugly because there is no specific character from my language.
Maybe it is specified somewhere, but will you also carry on with the Bordello's updates?
The SU:Unity content is flexible, so we can't comment on when certain content maybe added. Sorry.
Sorry if I’m way late to the party but what is Unity?
No Problem! I know this is confusing but will all make sense Feb 29th. SU = The story / assets SR7 has created SU Unity = The big full game that SR7 has worked on Stand Alones = Broken off events / pieces of SU Unity, built on Ren'py. SU:Themyscira (not official name yet) : Is a stand alone.
standalone as in a seperate game?
Yes, we're breaking off the events of SU and delivering them in a single game experience.
Was killer frost scene removed from the last update ?
Nothing was removed at all from the last update. We only add content.
I see no problem with separating, events with a lot of content like Themyscira can be independent.
the last build doesnt work at all???
Yes, it works. However the Emmylou scene is bugged, which is a significant portion of the build.
Can you explain what SU unity is compared to SU. Is work no longer going to continue on The regular SU after this next update?
I know it's confusing, and I promise it will all make sense on Feb 29th. But to break it down easier for everyone. SU = The story / assets SR7 has created SU Unity = The big full game that SR7 has worked on Stand Alones = Broken off events / pieces of SU Unity, built on Ren'py. SU:Themyscira (not official name yet) : Is a stand alone.
For this year will sunset be work on redoing the prison and yacht events. when will we see more the league of shadows and Kaznia content?
We have no plans on re-doing those events this year. And as for content I can't get into any specifics because it really relies on what SR7 has in the bank for content. But you can bet on getting more Gotham content.
i wanted to ask if we going to get a fixed version for the last update soon because some of the new content is bugged and thats very unfortunate
Me too I can't get any of new content brrr it's like I'm donating not buying bc I doesn't get what I'm buy gg
So bend or break 2 got delayed to next year?
No December is variable at this point BoB2, or SU. We won't be able to make that call until November.
So for clarification how would this stand alone event work will your progress from the unity version carry over? What made you guys want to go this route when previous events have never been this way? Seems like you are taking development time out of the main build when we don't even have the meta bordello complete yet. Wouldn't it be better to finish the main content before adding more and more events? Sorry for all the questions
The decision came when we continued to face more and more problems during development as SU surges in size. The Unity version is so obsolete (Bloodborne was launched the last year we updated Unity). We needed a way to get content to you guys faster and more efficiently, because if we kept doing things the way we were, it eventually was going to crumble. As well SR7 has many things he wants to try and the Unity version takes up almost 2 full months of time yearly just for testing. That's an immense time sink. Saves generally don't carry over very often. As well this event is broken off and independent of SU Unity (if you choose to play the stand alone). Many problems we have from update to update revolve around old saves not carrying over. So now we don't have this issue, and if you do play the Unity version only and get a bug, just go play the stand alone (they will be identical in content). Themyscira is main content at this point, it was introduced last year, and we're going to finish it as quickly as possible. This update size would have take several updates prior. Now we can finish it in a singular cycle. Lastly events are the direction SU is going to continue to grow. Old legacy content is hard to update, and monotonous. Giving our sole creator the ability to refresh and draw/create fun content is paramount over anything else. I hope this answered most of your questions.
So, if I may, what's the point in making a standalone version compared to the unity version? Doesn't splitting it even further mean it's going to take even longer to update things?
The point is the stand alone will offer the exact same experience for you users, while saving us massive amounts of time internally. In the future say people want more Themyscira, we can head back and add more content easily and rapidly. With Unity that isn't necessarily possible. With stand alones, users don't have to worry about saves carrying over, or trouble finding the new content as it's right there packaged up. It really solves so many problems for users, supporters, and for us. We're talking massive time savings. Bug fixing on the stand alone is usually finished in a day or two, not two weeks for SU Unity. But the benefits are even larger. Let me list them below. - Download size is 10x smaller. No more hang ups with mega - We can reach more audiences (via Web) - No more Mac issues - New content for Android users - Bug fixing is much faster - Quicker implementation into SU Android - We have 2 people developing instead of 1. Unity is 8 years old at this point, and when things get updated old stuff breaks. If you had a chance to play SU Android on release, you would notice that it's mostly bug free. We can deliver the same experience now with new SU content.
Wow Soo February we will tormen...I mean play with the Amazons. Also I hope you fix the problem of the last update about Emilou! Also I hope keep doing a great job, ok just for making my favorite location one more month of Patreon for this site
Gracias por su trabajo
