Rally guide & some news about CM Workshop
Considering how helpful the previous guide video was, we’ve prepared another one, this time about the new rally mode. Hopefully it’ll be just as useful!
As for development, for the past couple of months we were focused on preparing a new online platform for exchanging content. At its core it’s a second version of that CUP service used for registering content updates, fully rewritten to be much more efficient, reliable, extendable and open-sourced.
Now it can also host content, so files can be downloaded directly from the CUP platform, without messing around with sometimes unreliable cloud providers. Also, content can be marked as searchable, so that Content Manager could use those registries to look for missing content. There are some other improvements, such as invites, requests, the ability for modders to upload their icons to be shown next to their mods in the list and more, and even more interesting stuff will be coming soon, once we’ll get some more modders onto the platform uploading files directly and marking their content as searchable.
The idea is to prepare a background service scanning uploaded content and turning it into a neat gallery, acting as CM Workshop, as well as an online gallery. Done this way, the whole system is going to be modular, and thus much more flexible in case its requirements will change over time. Once that part is ready, all the other CM Workshop stuff, such as streaming data directly into CSP, unloading unused mods, loading simplified models for remote cars, could be added easily.
Another interesting consideration is the events that have transpired regarding broken encryption. The most typical reason for modders to encrypt their content is to ensure no one will be able to edit some small aspect of their content and claim it as their own. Generally speaking, the idea of keeping encryption unbroken is not really feasible in the long run if there is already a bit of client-side code doing the decryption. In lieu of encryption, the new CUP platform could instead act as an ultimate authorship registry, and in the future even try to detect stolen models automatically, providing a long-term, alternative solution for content protection. Although, I’ll still try to prepare a new encryption version for some exceptional cases, but it’s only a matter of time until it’ll be solved as well.
Further into the future, the new platform might be used for running MMO servers (loading some very simplified models for remote cars prepared ahead of time with this service, and then using custom rendering logic along with server-side alterations would allow us to massively increase the number and type of cars allowed on a given server), or maybe even to protect from piracy (assuming there is some way to integrate backend with something like Patreon or itch.io). Here is the rough outline of a roadmap we have prepared so far.
(Also, if you’re interested about what happened with the previous attempt of getting CM Workshop to work, sadly we felt like we needed to abandon that attempt. It became pretty overengineered while only being maybe one-third functional. Looking at its code now, it looks like a beautiful clockwork, but has too many intricacies to be confident enough in to rely on.)
So, if you’re working on mods and want to participate, please DM us and we’ll send you an invite link (might have to wait a bit though, as we’re unrolling the system and making sure things are working smoothly). But when doing so, please list prefixes you use for your mods, or folder names for your content, just to make sure we could prevent possible collisions. 🙏

The next CSP build is coming soon, but up to now, our primary focus has been on CUP, as well as on upgrading other web services (“/s”, for example, experienced some issues recently, but should be a lot more reliable now, because it now uses a neat SQLite database instead of 2 million files scattered around the place).

Hello, i have a problem after installing new csp , orange triangle on top left of the screen saying (A delay in data stream from the server) I'm running practice and race with bots and it pops ops. Any idea what might be causing this?
GT86 and MX5 ND are messed up when driven by other people, I tried reinstalling the cars but only reverting to 0.2.5 worked.

I still have the black sky, help pls
i still have the black sun bug. I tried every possible solution and deactivated everything in the settings / activated everything and/or tried different settings. I tried reinstlal everything / reinstall the whole game. I also deleted the cashe of the game and from pure/ csp. But the black sun stays no matter what. I mod the game myself but thats the first thing i cant get rid of. And the driver helmet activation in neck fx lets the game crash.
p.s. i know that the black sun bug was supposedly fixed in the last update. But here this is not case. It seems that something can still course this bug. Interestingly it only happens when i use pure LCS. With pure gamma the sun works normally. I suggested this to Peter Boese but his recommended fixed never fixed it for me sadly.

i think there is none. or atleast i dont know where to find it. I hope we get a new CSP update soon.. Peter Boese said, that a new pure update comes in the beginning/ middle of december. So hopefully together with this update we get a csp update aswell. Thats really needed to fix the bugs.

On online servers road can't be wet if it's not raining. If it stops raining track gets dry in seconds. Such a bummer. Full control over all weather effects (and also a slider/variable from 0%-100% for things like fog, dust and haze) would be a welcome addition. CSP transitions don't play nice with live weather together, also it can be cloudy and still dusty at the same time, not possible with current implementation.
Hello I'm hoping for some help I am running all latest versions of CM and pure and fire works in the day are black and the driving line is barley visible in the day but once everything is turned to night it's fine any ideas on what I could try to fix this problem thank you In advance.

I've brought up this problem before months ago, but scriptable filters aren't working for me. They just show a black screen with the UI and if I interact with it it leaves "ghosts" of the UI behind it or wherever I had it before that I can't interact with. It does this with every filter and I've reinstalled CM and CSP every update to see if it would be fixed and I've had no luck

hey guys im new to pc and trying to set up my graphics mods, i have csp, pure and everything installed correctly however my my game still looks terrible, i have 2d trees, reflections in cars look horrible, and everything has a kind of ps2 look to it, has anyone ran into this?

CSP 0.2.4 has broken some aspects of CM. When I go to Practice, it always starts me in the Pits, even though I've set Start From to Starting Line.
Please.. Spend some time developing the CM UI. Some of the advanced stuff in CM is excellent in presentation and functionality. But the Server List, the most important part for casual players and new CM users is downright awful. And the Casual AC driver is probably the biggest user base and it will grow exponentially with file hosting. With Rally and new Traffic concepts added to Drifting and other types of racing. We need a better UI that separate them. Give Rally - Drift - Traffic - Practise - Race their own Tabs and server filter. Design the UI like NOKIA did in the 90's Everything is accessible in 3 steps. It made them world nr1. It ended when they started putting the "Ignition Key" in the trunk like all the rest. I love CM but the worst part of it.. Is the Server List / Management. Add some checkboxes in CM Server tab and Other hosts that will help CM identify what Tab the server belongs too.

Any clue why HUD does not show in rally mode. I have the AI generated markers, I can navigate all of the track using the editor and all looks good but when I drive noting shows other then the start instruction, and progress bar? What would be the best track to test with?
For anyone struggling with having no rain, FX with pure i found the solution, all you have to do is drag the lights patch v2.5 zip file (dont unzip) into content manager and install it in the top right of CM.

Fixed my problem by uninstalling every mod and pure and then updating everything lol. That was not fun but it works

Somehow there's now a black thing on the windshield, that's not a windshield wiper. Don't know how to make it go away. Sorry, I want my money back....!!! Paid Version of CSP 0.2.3, 0.2.4 and 0.2.5 CRASHES MY GAME. And: With Version 0.2.4 I have only white traffic cars... ONLY Version 0.2.3 works!!! It's ok, that you want money for your work and I am happy to pay - but then you also have to make sure that everything works and the game doesn't crash!!!

as I play mostly in VR, is it possible to see content manager directly in VR without going back to the desktop every time the race finish?
on quest with virtual desktop this is no problem
This "PATCH" completely ruined my game and will not launch anymore with errors!!!!!! if I unistall csp it works again.
This is the second time I'm asking for help regarding my problem. When I open the CM Showroom I get the message: Unable to start customized Showroom. Exception thrown by an external component. Since I have to modify some wipers on the cars, do you have any solutions?

does anyone know why i have a black sun? Is this some bug with the new csp and the new pure? It only happens when i activate Pure LCS but i cant fix it. I reinstalled everything, deleted old data etc. but it stays like that.

Ilja ... Is it possible to remove the fireworks that spin in the sky in a circular motion? It's totally unrealistic, and kills the immersion of otherwise really cool lighting effects. (Sorry for posting this again, just in case it was not seen by ilja in the older post)

Hello I don't know where the problem comes from but when doing night shopping (maybe it does it during the day but it's more visible at night), I have the display flickering (even on the pause menu). We have the impression that it depends on the lights. I have tried several settings, I can't target the problem. I also have white lights from time to time. I have the Cm in version 0.8.2686.39678. I'm on a 1440p screen with a 4070 super. If anyone has a lead.... Thank you

I wanted to say they are wearing out the tires visibly.. even driver 2 is doing a lot of work on the tire wear... strange that when you are alone on the track it works and in a race with opponents much less or not at all.. there must be something that conflicts.... can you check? thank you very much.!!

i have a problem, i play assetto corsa with a ps4 controller but with the new csp light patch the 2.5 when i shift into a gear i does a weird screenshot thing on the car dashboard the car instrument i think my control are R1 for gear up and L1 for gear down. if someone could help me i'd really appreciate it thx !

File signature (basically using public key cryptography to encrypt only the SHA1/SHA-256 digest of a file) is probably much easier to implement and less resource intensive than fully encrypting the mod contents using something like AES-256. You also can embed the public keys used to verify signatures in the client and don't worry about protecting secrets like you would with symmetrical encryption.

do the races have tyre wear? most online races dont so it wont show the wear

Mods work just fine now. We need bugfixes. Nothing matters when there are bugs to fix imho. We have hundreds of hacks ripping models from Forza games piracy really a concern? VR barely presents a cohesive image at times with all the bugs, some of which have been broken since 2016, singing the siren's song of a relaxing VR drive. But it ain't relaxing and the sirens have bugs for teeth.
