Orange filled the sky, the setting sun reflecting off SDN’s wall-to-wall glass and all that light dancing across the street as Sky made his way toward the three-story building.

Sky’s steps were slower than they had to be, the majority of his thoughts still on the show he’d just left behind.

It hadn’t gone… wrong.

Not really. No crash-and-burn, at least, which already put it above where he'd set the bar the moment he stepped into that foam box. Even still, he was running his own answers back in his head; a highlight reel of whatever bullshit he let fall from his mouth.

Better a meter than a person, right? That had come out of him; out loud, on the radio for all two-hundred thousand something people in this city. Some blabbermouth bullshit he’d thrown out just to defend some three-fingered asshole with no eyebrows that had called him all sorts of underwhelming in the first nine seconds of meeting him.

The hand learns something new. He turned that one over a little bit, mouthing it even as he chose to accept it outside of those red lights. That one was solid, at least.

Not the best, but not worth trashing if he could reuse it.

Name one person in the world who likes their boss was… not one of his best, after a little bit of thought. Less solid all around, especially when his actual boss was probably gonna hear it — or hear of it — by the end of the week; give or take.

That’s a tomorrow thing. Future Sky got that one. The doors whispered open as Sky stepped over the white lettering on the black SDN mat, a wall of lemon wax and expensive AC smacking him in the face.
