how fast should canon characters show up in massive disaster?

massive disaster is zedd’s story, but sooner or later, the heavy hitters of mass effect are gonna start crossing paths with him. question is—how soon should they start showing up?

do you want:
⚡ early and often – major names show up fast, influencing the world from the start.
🌀 gradual buildup – background cameos first, with main characters stepping in naturally over time.
⏳ slow burn – zedd makes a name for himself before any major canon characters notice him.
🔒 only when it makes sense – no rush, only introducing them when the story demands it.

Note: I'm also taking opinions on Discord.

The galaxy is a big place, while Zedd may make a name for himself it's unlikely that he would cross paths with many of them naturally. The ones that I imagine he could potentially meet or cross paths with would be: Tali - If the Migrant Fleet enters the system looking for unclaimed resources and work. Mordin - He would be in his STG years here, if Zedd is a person of interest they may cross paths but I kind of doubt it would be direct since salarians tend to stand out in all human settlements. More likely he would just be observing and making an intelligence report to his superiors. Kasumi - I can easily imagine her being hired for corporate espionage. Legion - Geth are watching organics and likely would be watching Zedd simply because he makes interesting things. Wouldn't be surprised if they hacked Dum-E and U and are using them as an observation vector. Unlikely they would attempt to speak to him, though. Personally I am looking forward to Zedd meeting more aliens. Quarians and Salarians especially.

my thoughts are more along the line of we should feel the effects of cannon characters simply because shepard is doing some wacky shit and that's going to be causing aftershocks that could be felt. but i don't think you need a sitcom styled "hey look who it is!" moment. well beyond rex ol buddy ol pal. since he's already involved and will probably be back for more explody things later

I think it is not necessary to involve canon characters just for the sake of it. Your original cast of characters are already pretty good and can adequately constitute an original storyline within the Mass Effect universe. I would much prefer this story to highlight aspects of the setting that were not explored in canon. I don't mind it at all if only a couple of canon characters appear.

Gradual makes the most sense to me. Zedd is still new and while he’s made some waves the universe is a massive place and not everyone is playing 4D chess let alone 5D. Gives time for things to develop both on Zedd’s end AND on the background in reaction and action outside of his cause and effect.

My vote comes with a grain of salt cause I’ve never played mass effect so non of the canon characters have any meaning to them
