A LIFE-SAVING MEDIC STATION IN GAZA

(Update: we're not 100% there yet, but I want to thank anyone who saw this post and donated or promoted the cause elsewhere. You have played a real substantive role in saving human lives, and there are people who would've died but will now survive. Whatever other horror comes screaming down on us, however hopeless it looks, remember that you reached across the world to help protect the innocent. – M)

Especially with the recent absurd Nazi treatment of Mahmoud Khalil, I'm more and more reluctant to give too many details about anyone in Gaza, so I'm getting straight to the important part:

Amjad and the rest of his "camp," as it were, are watching people die from what should not be life-threatening injuries, because there are just no medical supplies, not even First Aid kits. We're not talking about doctors or hospital equipment here. Palestinian civilians, including children, are dying in ways that any adult with some very basic supplies could prevent – and I ask you to imagine how bitter it would be to survive 15 months of genocide, bullets and bombs and tanks and drones, US money and AI kill lists, and then lose someone you love to a cut, an infection, a falling wall in a building held up by nothing but inertia.

The "ceasefire" has left Palestinians to both virtual and literal minefields where their towns and cities used to be, wrecked houses, burned-out cars, broken stone and metal and wood everywhere, and it's just impossible to keep children in particular from getting the cuts and scrapes that children get everywhere on Earth, in the cleanest playgrounds of the most expensive luxury subdivisions. It is an obscene failing of humanity that any of those children should die.

Amjad estimates €4,000 to find, buy, and use the necessary supplies. As long as I've known him, I've watched him assemble services and maintain some kind of civilizational baseline for the people around him, and given the chance, I trust that he'll do this too.

It's rarely this simple or stark, but money translates directly to the survival of people who are dying for lack of the most basic help.

Anything you can give will keep human beings alive.

Thank you all for everything –
