Happy Birthday. The angst has hit me hard again at 62, specially after having chemo for leukemia and losing my ability to read, having to listen closely to audiobooks without knowing how to isolate clips and comment on them, being afraid to finish writing my novel, bing afraid not to finish it, knowing I’m now elderly like and having to use a cane, having hands that shake so bad I can no longer cook or hold utensils, wondering if I should write about this. Cliff, this angst doesn’t go away even as your most treasured memories are being formed, the tension of time and place and characters that are the same thing great literature. I’m hoping that someone is reading us like we read literature, dog eating the pages, and underlining their favorite passages:
Man that's intense. Thank you very much for writing that Yoby, and for the birthday wishes.
Happy Birthday Cliff, thank you for all the life-affirming content!
Thanks very much!
Happy bday!! Wishing you a great year and hoping that you’ll be able to do a lot more of the things you like, and that you’re able to enjoy your time here doing things that make life worth living.
Thanks a bunch!
I turned 34 on feb 24th. Cheers 🍻
Happy Belated Birthday!
Happy belated birthday! I wouldn't have guessed you were a Pisces.
Thanks very much Jack!
Happy belated birthday wishes Cliff 👍
Thanks a bunch!
happy belated birthday!!
Thanks a bunch man!
And happy late birthday!
Thank you very much!
One of the best reviews you’ve ever done.
Man, I felt all of that re: travel. One of the last trips I took alone was three weeks in Germany and Norway over 20 years ago. It was fantastic, but I came close to having a total breakdown by the end of it.
Happy birthday Cliff! You read about life and sex, not death and sex. Nice if depressing review. 34??? You've only be an adult for like a dozen years. Engage in meaningful work as much as you can. You may have six or sixty more years ahead of you. Thanks you for making US think....
Hey thanks a bunch Ryan, much appreciated.
Just read it last month. Had a blast. Him wondering about what Cioran would think about Twitter is great--I think he'd love it and be tweeting aphorisms 24/7 and following only a single cafe that's down the street from his apartment. The portions about Houellebecq were also great. Really interesting book and I feel similarly to you--it's like this guy read a bunch of shit I also like to read and wandered around the world and drank and rambled about it. Right up my alley lol. Cheers man. Happy belated.
Glad you enjoyed it too - Thanks a bunch Benjamin!
