Better Than Friday - 172
Good evening everyone, hope you have a great weekend.
Thanks very much for your continued support.
New review of Fleur Jaeggy's 'These Possible Lives' is up - I really enjoyed it.
1. A novel that comes highly recommended - The Moviegoer by Walker Percy
A story about a New Orleans soldier turned stock broker who seeks out real relationships and experiences after only being emotionally connected to scenes in films.
A recommendation from friend and patron Josh.
A damn fine composer, truly a loss.
3. Soft White Underbelly and Mark Laita
Been watching this guy's interviews for a while.
When I lived in downtown LA I used to frequently walk around the border of Skid Row. Mark Laita is a former advertising photographer who decided to begin interviewing the people around his studio in Skid Row and getting their life stories.
The result is probably the most socially profound artistic work presently being produced. He just appeared on Rogan.
A caveat: It's extremely dark.
4. "Yukio Mishima was a drag king"
Compelling article for those who are into bodybuilding.
5. The Paintings of Stefan Burnett
My wife recently got into Death Grips, which reminded me of vocalist MC Ride's very dark and beautiful paintings.

The Moviegoer is wonderful. Hope you won't be going to Hell in a barrel this year!
Awesome card, dude. Yeah, Soft White Underbelly. Very grim sometimes, but I've become fascinated with their content. Merry Christmas to you both!
David Lynch films (and soundtracks RIP Angelo Badalamenti) and Death Grips are two of the things that I most enjoy in the world. Today I bought the McCarthy’s books that you recently reviewed. In the spanish version both are in one piece. Cheers from Chile !
