Better Than Friday - 165
Good afternoon everyone, hope things are well. Dressing up for Halloween?
I always wanted to be the clown in the Edward Hopper painting Soir Bleu. One day.
Happy Halloween.
1. Book I need to read - The Impersonal Adventure by Marcel Béalu
A short strange-looking post-war surreal mystery from a poet who was a hatmaker. Recently sent to me from the always brilliant Wakefield Press.
Sounds kind of Kafkaesque or similar to Bruno Schultz or Bohumil Hrabal.
2. You Don’t Find Maldoror - It finds you
I really gotta reread that one soon.
A very cool new edition was published recently by Infinity Land Press.
A flawless horror film.
Perfect blend of horror and humor. Also made with absolutely no money.
Still incredible. Definitely worth seeing on the big screen if you ever have a chance.
4. Jason Voorhees interviewed on Arsenio Hall
Never breaks character. Not once.
5. Are You Ready For The Great Atomic Power?
Brought to you by the good folks who sang "Satan is Real".
This one is a masterpiece. I think McCarthy is a fan of these guys.
Happy Halloween from Florida

Whoa, first time discovering Wakefield press. This looks really interesting. Thanks Cliff!
My pleasure!
Ha. When I saw #5 mention "Satan is Real" I thought you were talking about: https://youtu.be/mUv8GxrqXPk Then, I saw that McCarthy was a fan and thought, ok, maybe it still is. The guy is pretty dark. It wasn't.
