Better Than Friday - 344
How y'all doin?
Hiding out down south, currently reading Meyrink's 'The Golem' - Quite unusual.
Thanks for all your support and wishing you a great weekend.
Book to read: The Life of Saint Teresa by Herself (Paid Link)
I had no idea that she wrote a book!! Gotta read this asap. The Catholic Italian Snake Festival in the town of Cocullo: Festa dei Serpari
Found via @lovebuzzzzz
The festival honors St. Dominic di Sora who protects against snakebites.
Certainly contributes to Paglia's point about the pagan influence on Catholicism.
Not surprised that it takes place on May 1st (Mayday. Wicker Man day.)
Here's a documentary about it from the channel Rete8.Natchez Documentary (Paid Link)
A recent documentary about the very strange town I'm currently inhabiting, with its dark history of slavery and the complex modern racial tension. Well done.
The coolest tribal Native American photo I have ever seen
That is one of the coolest photos I have seen, period.Cat Nap in the Boom Boom Room by Willard Grant Conspiracy
The goofiest name for a great sad song.
Came across this Scarlet Kingsnake on a walk at dusk (A friend of Jack, non-poisonous, "red touches yellow - kill a fellow, red touches black - friend of jack" as they say).
He was so still I thought he was dead - But no, just catching some fading heat from the warm concrete sidewalk. Never seen one before. Gorgeous.

I just finished The Wicker Man yesterday 😱 . It was good but not really at the top. Why is this movie one of your favorites ?
The originality, atmosphere, story, and conceptual depth. The Christian officer is good but repressed. The Pagans are evil but free. It's a complex story.
It’s fun that you and I are now in the same state. Hope it’s treating you well. Gotta catch up on a lot of reading, and a trip to Memphis next weekend ought to be a great time to do so
Thrilled to be here - It's a beautiful state. Have a great trip to Memphis!
I haven't read the whole of Teresa's autobiography, but the bits that I have are absolutely fascinating. Every part of her and her life is immensely interesting. Also that pic in #4 is incredible!
Terrific, I'm excited to read it. Re the photo yeah agreed!
Proving, once again, the importance of memorizing poems verbatim. 🙏
Man you ain’t kiddin!
