Better Than Food - 339
Greetings y'all, happy Friday.
Currently reading Michael Herr's 'Dispatches' (Paid Link). 16 pages in and I am sold.
It's exceptionally written.
Simultaneously, packing up the library and preparing for our departure. A busy time.
Still unsure of our final destination, but we are planning a reconnaissance trip to Arizona.
Wishing you a nice weekend and hope all is well.
Thank you so much for helping me keep the show going.
Book to Read: Salammbô by Gustave Flaubert (Paid Link)
Overdue to revisit Flaubert. Salammbô is a historical novel set in Carthage about mercenaries in revolt and the doomed love between their leader and a priestess named Salammbô.Philip Larkin and John Betjeman segment from the BBC Archive
A beautifully shot segment featuring Philip Larkin, a poet I've been meaning to read for some time now.Dancing to Death Grips
I got very into that album, The Money Store, when I was in Tokyo in 2011.
This guy gets it. Smooth as hell. When Einsturzende Neubauten played in the Mojave Desert
From the documentary Desolation Center. Must've been an incredible thing to witness.
Found out about it via this interesting chat with Blixa Bargeld from the channel Peeling the Onion.Eric Dolphy and Charles Mingus in Belgium in 1964
Not convinced there is anything cooler than Mingus and Clifford Jordan in those shades.

I’ve never heard of Sallambo! But I liked Madame Bovary, and I have a copy of Sentimental Education tbr. Look forward to what you think about it.
Thanks Jeff! Oh yeah I gotta read Sentimental Education as well, thank you for the reminder. Please let me know what you thought of it whenever you get to it.
My friend Stuart organized those desert concerts with Neubauten, Sonic Youth, the Minutemen etc. he made a documentary film about those shows called Desolation Center. Highly recommended
