Better Than Friday - 326

Hullo everyone, hope you had a nice Holiday. It was quiet and relaxing here.
Finished H.G. Wells's "The Island of Dr. Moreau" - review coming soon.
After that, the Best Of 2025...

A very Happy New Year to you all, and thank you so much for helping me keep this project going. Hope you find many books you love through the show in the new year.

1. Strange Book Recently Sent to Me By Wakefield Press: Scorpions by Yumiko Kurahashi (Paid Link)
Disclaimer: Wakefield Press sends me free books for review
Depraved experimental fiction from a transgressive Japanese female author.

2. Henry Rollins reads Henry Miller before launching into Black Flag's Nervous Breakdown

In a fishnet shirt with gym shorts no less. Awesome.

3. Mona Lisa kills
I wonder if Camille Paglia has seen this.

From the film House No. 13.

4. Blast of Silence
A nihilistic Christmas film noir about a hitman, with a hardboiled second person pov voiceover. I love the scene with him wandering around Manhattan with the Christmas choral in the background.

5. H.G. Wells talk from 1931
Sharp guy. It's so cool that this exists.

Briefly visited an out-of-time Old Florida small town called Micanopy.
Beautiful spot filled with Spanish moss.
Found a shop with some books and picked up a copy of Delillo's Libra for $3.
