Happy Post-Thanksgiving everyone, hope your meals were delicious. Had a nice quiet holiday.
I'm very thankful for all of you. Thank you very much for keeping the show going.
Editing the review of James Ellroy's "The Black Dahlia" - Coming soon.
Wishing you a nice weekend.
A recommendation from JG Ballard: The White Goddess by Robert Graves (Paid Link)
An enormous study of mythology and folklore by the author of "I, Claudius".Found from this article.
Finally watched John Huston's "The Maltese Falcon" with Bogey and Lorre
And I can't recommend it enough, what a knockout.
Bogey's quips carry the whole film.Last great song I heard: this remix of Gene Loves Jezebel's "Desire"
80's as all hell. Love that bass."The Big Knife" directed by Robert Aldrich
A James Ellroy recommendation. A scathing Film Noir aimed at Hollywood. Terrific film. Rod Steiger nailed his role as the evil Hollywood Studio exec. Nice introduction to the film from TCM here.
"I CONTROL YOUR MIND" - We lost a great one
The irreplaceable Udo Kier. Bless that man. Rest in peace. Found via @kpissfm
Here's a nice commemorative article by Adam Lehrer.

Passed a kidney stone last week, which meant several sleepless nights. I too watched The Maltese Falcon for the first time one of those nights. “Knockout” is a great word for it. Absolute classic. I read the novel a couple months ago and adored it—you ought to give it a read sometime!
Oh my god I am so sorry. I've read that's among the most painful things a person can experience. Glad you're out of the woods. That's great you got to see the film too, and yes I should read it, thanks for the recommendation, I haven't read any Dashiel Hammet yet.
Great picture of you!
Thanks very much Jeff!
Great movies, great tune, great books. Happy Thanksgiving, my friend.
Glad you dig them and Happy Thanksgiving man! I think I first heard the original Gene and Jezebel track from your playlist, great choice.
