The Vampyre by John William Polidori (the FIRST Vampire story) PATRON-ONLY REVIEW
The very first English-language story about a Vampire. A nightmarish tale about the mesmerizing sadist Lord Ruthven.
It was inspired by a fragment of a story written by Lord Byron, "Augustus Darvell" (included in this edition) during the ghost-story contest between Byron, Polidori, Percy and Mary Shelley at Villa Diodati in Geneva.
A must-read for any lover of Gothic Literature and an excellent short read for Halloween.

This story is included in my copy of Frankenstein, which I am currently reading. Sounds like a great combo for the season. Thanks for the review, Cliff!
