From "Dracula: Dead and Loving It"
This Mel Brooks adaptation of Dracula had me choking with laughter as a kid.David Cronenberg on "Fashion Neurosis"
Hell of a vouch from Ballard for Cronenberg's film adaptation of "Crash", no?
László Krasznahorkai Wins the Nobel Prize in Literature
And I imagine it was well deserved. Mildly embarrassed that I haven't finished one of his novels yet, but I plan to soon.
Bauhaus - "Bela Lugosi's Dead" Live at Coachella
Where Peter Murphy sings the whole song upside down like a bat.

Love it. I subscribed to this “Dracula Daily” site and it sends you emails throughout the year based on the dates of the events in the book. It’s pretty cool! I’ve been jamming to Bauhaus lately, thanks for the link. Impressive indeed! Just watched The Hunger like I do every October and the Bauhaus scene in it always gets me in the spirit. Recommend the first few books of Anne Rice’s vampire chronicles. The Vampire Lestat is my personal favorite vampire novel of all time. Cheers!
Dracula Daily, I'll have to look into that, thanks - Yeah Bauhaus/The Hunger is the best, nice choices. I have yet to read Anne Rice, but noted, thanks for the rec!
Ngl im suprised you never read dracula it's cool your getting to it tbh. I guess people's cultural blind spots can suprise you. That being said my personal spooky season reading has been a compendium of vampire poems I found.
Yeah right? Me too. Interesting - Who is the author of said Vampire Poems?
Glad you picked up Dracula for the Halloween month, and looking forward to your insights on it!
Thanks Nico! Yeah it's quite the book - much to discuss.
Krasznahorkai is great. I haven't read Satantango but I can recommend a collection of stories called Seiobo There Below, and also a novel about a Buddhist temple called A Mountain to the North, a Lake to the South, Paths to the West, a River to the East, which is the only novel I've ever read that basically doesn't have any characters (besides the temple itself).
Awesome, I think I'll start with 'Melancholy', we'll see. Thanks for the recs. A novel with no characters, interesting...
I plan to read Interview with a Vampire. I read The Fall of The House of Usher and other stories by Edgar Allan Poe
Please let me know what you think of "Interview", I haven't read it. Can't go wrong with Poe!
I am hoping to read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley this month (the original 1818 text). Speaking of gothic novels, I am currently reading Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier.
Another patron recently told me that "Rebecca" was terrific. I haven't read Frankenstein, please let me know what you think of both.
I’m just about to start Dracula myself! Doing a Halloween double feature. Just finished Frankenstein :)
Nice! Cheers! What did you think of Frankenstein?
Please pair a first time reading with “forgetting Sarah Marshall’s” Dracula musical
No guarantees my friend haha
