Ems reaction to the a plot of thr bee movie is the exact reason i have not and will never watch that movie
Gotta love your players telling you, the DM, that your rules are wrong.
So I actually work in veterinary toxicology and I had to comment about the wine thing! While grapes and raisins, cooked or raw, are kidney toxic to dogs, *commercially* processed grapes like wine, grape jelly, and grape juice do not pose a risk for kidney toxicity. The wine would potentially cause a risk for ethanol toxicity but a certain amount by body weight has to be interested before that risk is seen and effects are seen rapidly, so would not expect it to be a concern after 8 hours. For actual pets involved in toxic exposure I definitely recommend contacting a poison help line. There's are a lot of factors that affect what care is needed and if it can be managed at home or needs a vet involved.
Dying a little because I literally just had an argument with my mother that 4 is in fact the perfect number of cats
Now you need to watch the bee movie for a mixed bag
Murph, there is also Dog Beer - please add this to your dog sommelier episode!
Absolutely crazy to hear them talk about Better Man after the Campaign 3 finale watch party
Suggested deep blue sea for my hinge date tonight! Thanks Danielle 🥰🦈🔫🌊
on the whole reading in dreams, i occasionally have really bad semi-lucid nightmares and i try that trick of reading text in my dream to try to snap myself out of it and it never works 😭 some people can in fact read in their dreams unfortunately
With the encoded language case, incorporating a Nico Robin-like story to their backstory would work well. Make the ability to translate the language and know that history forbidden in a way that makes it dangerous for the character to share that information since they can’t reveal how they know it till they trust the rest of the party enough to reveal they know how to translate it.
MIXED BAG BEE MOVIE I BEG YOU
Youth of the Nation started playing while I'm listening to this at work. Life is good
I love all guests, but Danielle fits so seamlessly into this podcast’s dynamic. Would be awesome to see her in a campaign!
Am I no fun? @ the Grappling Case. 100% on the DM’s side
It slipped by in the bit chaos but ‘That house isn’t yours anymore’ regarding the roomba infestation is so goddamn funny Danielle!!
Was not expecting Robot Kayfabe but I'm here for it lol
I’m really bad/slow at reading clocks irl, but in my dreams I can always read clocks and confidently believe whatever bullshit I see makes sense
Caldwell reading that final ingredient of the dog wine was incredible I almost choked.
YES!! Love a Danielle appearance
Isn't the only "by the book" stat block for a "bug" a tarantula?
I watched the bee movie and feel like I remember a smoking in bed after fucking scene. It's been 20 years probably???? So I have no idea if that's real
on the ant stuff I mean if its 2024 that sucks even more for the player because now you are wasting an in the moment resource but also you can only have 4 animal blocks memorized per day and they are wasting it on ant. but honestly yeah should just stop trying after the first
"I want to creatively problem solve" but that's just not how the rules work, you can break the grapple by turning into something 2 sizes larger than the creature grappling you, not something smaller.
"All known laws of dnd say bees should be grappled but the bee escapes anyways" pretty sure that's the first line of a bee movie
Gen Z absolutely grew up on the bee movie, I’m BEGGING you to do a mixed bag where you watch it
You know everyone is on good behavior for a guest when Jake almost said erection instead of reaction and it (mostly) flies under the radar 🤣
The fact that they haven't watched Bee Movie for a View Crew already is kind of wild.
Um, actually it was the Mad Hatter that trapped Batman in a dream. Not the riddler
In the counterspells case, there's two factors that really need clarification: 1) was the DM asking for the base level of the spell, or the level it was being cast at? They absolutely inarguably get to know the first, but not the second until it's time to resolve things. 2) what was the lore the druid was mad at? Usually when a player is mad about lore, there's specifics, but it's just "They didn't like my lore" which is kinda suspicious to me.
Dog wine mixed with cat wine makes fox wine.
Dog wine mixed with cat wine makes fox wine.
My general rule is if a player is using a limited resource to do something in place of making a skill check or a save, I'll let it happen since they are paying a price.
Absolutely disgusting of Caldwell calling His Dark Materials “his dark compass”? ? what kind of unprofessional production is this
“It’s whine o’clock somewhere”
That took a dark turn. Use your toe….fist my ant?!
I love seeing D&D Court come up anyway but to see Danielle, one of the absolute funniest role players I’ve ever seen as a returning judge, made my whole month! And obviously, I laughed the entire episode, thank you always 2 Crew!
“Fist my Ant” -Emily Axford, 2026
The druid in the counterspell case was not being rude. Thats how counterspell works
Yeah. You choose what level you're casting your own counterspell at, then you figure out if you need to roll.
Look anyone who isn't relistening to the first twoyal tumble before the new one drops, is a chump!!!!
You can have catnip! It's actually very delicious as a tea
Love me some catnip tea. I was going to comment on this too. I find it funny that it has the reverse effect on humans... Making us relaxed instead of getting the zoomies
Reading something twice is one of the exercises for lucid dreaming, because in dreams even if you can read something, it won't be the same.
I frequently encounter this in dreams and become frustrated that I can't remember what it said the first time!
Just chiming in for a Mixed Bag of a Bee Movie watch. A human woman dating a bee only touches the surface of how bizarre the plot is.
Please watch the Bee Movie for a mixed bag or View Crew 🙏
BEE MOVIE MIXED BAG!!!!! Emily would absolutely lose it, PLEASE!! 🙏🏼
Anyone else absolutely obsessed with the dungeon court intro/outro song or is it just me because I genuinely cannot get it out of my head after hearing it even once
My ruling for the counterspell probably would have been the old standard of make a roll for it. Make an arcana check. Your BBEG probably has pretty decent stats. DC 15 you get the name of the spell but you don't get to know if they're up casting. DC 20 you get the name and the level.
FIVE?!?! Five Roombas?!? That’s it? It would take *dozens* to rattle me
Danielle!!! Such a great guest. Like most things with the 2024 edition, I have come around on the changes they made to counterspell (no auto-success but also no ability check, the opposing caster always makes a con save). It’s less exciting but also less swingy.
Oh God, memory unlocked. My friends and I smoked catnip once. It was awful. 😂
Danielle Radford 😍 Always thrilled when she shows up
SPOLIERS for MY GIRL!!!! SHEEEEEESH!!!
Excited for Twoyal tumble 2: too Twoyal to Toil drop today
If you drink cat wine and dog wine together you get cross-breed-faded
The way that Danielle slots in so so seamlessly... How do we get her in a campaign 😭❤️
Dog wine SMELLier 💅
I typed up a whole thing for the counterspell case saying how I feel it's fine that the players need to choose whether to use a higher level counterspell or gamble it with a roll for a basic/lower level cast of it, only to listen to the clip again and realize the DM is the counterspeller, the Druid is the one being countered and the DM was the one being asked what level of counterspell they're using. Despite all that, I feel the situation is the same: I think the player's not knowing and having to guess/risk it is part of the game. It's too meta IMO asking the DM what level they are going to counterspell the player. It's the same as you a player asking the DM what spell a DM caster is going to use so that the player can upcast their counterspell.
Thank you for the FFX reference that no one else reacted to, Caldwell
YESSSS!!! love all the guests yall get but danielle is such an extra special delight! already know it’s gonna be a great ep (twoyal tumble rematch in the works…?)
I’m crying on a couch with 5 sleeping cats on it. Dammit Justice Radford!
My elementary school took us to the movie theater to see the Bee movie. It blew our little minds
Things animals can't have bonus knowledge - owls can't have butter!
Tell me more right now.
Idk that case with the counter spell I'm with the player. The dm knows the stats of the player but they can't read their mind they don't know what they're planning. We also don't know what they consider not liking the lore and it doesn't sound hostile. Just because youre a master of fey magic doesn't mean you understand druid magic or everything about a warlock's magic. In this lore the dm made is there anything about tiers of magic or what magic even looks and presents like at different levels. We don't have enough context but sounds like the dm should write a book.
Yeah, and I don't think I've ever heard someone DMing on naddpod ask a player what level spell they're casting before using counterspell
"We have another show called Surprise Round" I mean, in theory you do, yeah.
Danielle may be my favorite guest episodes. She should be at very least a quarterly recurring spot. Just S tier content every time.
Week 14 of me pleading for Roll Dolls (TM Pending) to hit the NADDPOD SHOP
I gotta catch up on Danielle’s stuff last I saw was the dimension 20 stuff and loved them.
I too thought 5
The case about counter spell. 1) as a dm when I used 2014 rules I would counter spell but always be honest with myself and say “how bad would this mess the bad guy up?” They can take it? Eh lower level. If I think it could really change the battle I would always do my highest level spell. I don’t like the meta of that version. Counter spell in 2024 is my favorite change to the game. I also had my first campagain end when a level 11 scorcher was able to roll a 14 and with his +5 to arcane defuse the BBEGS 9th level spell. The new version I could have used a legendary resistance and it doesn’t feel meta. It’s all concentration checks. So if you are a strong wizard your spell save dc would be higher than average thus you are more likely to beat someone with a counterspell. I like that it’s interrupting the casters focus and is all in game now.
Fun episode, the counter spell is actually not that mysterious to me. I cast Chromatic Orb at 3rd level, is how folk typically declare their action. Failing to tell your DM the action you're doing just leads to plausible cheating, "I cast Chromatic Orb" it hits "aha uhh yeah that's 5th level btw GOTCHA" I understand the confusion but it's just bad faith player behaviour, regardless of the specific rules of counter spell, which is now a Con Save in 5.5e but I'd say this was a 5e game
When you're up-casting, you typically announce it, but nobody ever says "I'm casting chromatic orb at a first level." When a PC casts counterspell, the DM doesn't tell them what level they need to cast it at. Turnabout should be fair play. The argument that the character/bbeg "would know" is absurd.
Why is dog wine not just blueberry juice? So much more complicated than it needs to be
I think most listeners share this cultural memory & if not, very worth looking up: "Bee bread" gave me a vivid flash of the beautifully animated "bread & butterflies" from Alice in Wonderland (1951) during the "All in the Golden Afternoon" song sequence.
I can answer the cat poison hotline question mostly because I think all pet owners should be aware since it’s cheaper than an emergency vet! Pet Poison Helpline does phone call or chat consultations for pet owners (including cats). It’s a $89 consulting fee because they’re not funded by the government like human poison control is. I had to contact them after I suspected one of my four dumbass cats ate a vitamin D pill and they let me know the dose of the vitamin D and her weight meant she would be fine (I was so stressed because everything I saw online was saying how she would go into complete organ failure within 48 hours depending on the dose) my experience with them was great and I was happy I didn’t need to panic rush her to the emergency vet for a blood panel.
Omfg I loved Danielle on the toyal tumble I’m happy to see her again!
There’s an episode of Brooklyn 99, where a Roomba goes HAM on a crime scene and just spreads the blood everywhere instead of cleaning it. It’s classic Robert.
Yeah, I was thinking "Robert probably deserves this shade, but if he's a Roomba expected to perform like a Scuba that's kinda messed up TBQH." 😂
Pet Poison line is absolutely for cars too! I called just recently when I panicked that our car had been poisoned by floor cleaner (fortunately not answered she was fine). They do charge, which is fair enough, since I got put through to speak to an actual pet toxicologist for a personalised urgent appointment.
Oh no, did you try to run your car on pure ethanol rather than car wine?! (j/k I know it's just a typo, but it's a really fun one 🥰)
Potatoes are poisonous to cats and I had to call poison control for my kitten when she ate some potato peel she ended up being just fine but it was a very long night.
hell yeah twoyal tumble so excited
On the topic of what you can do in dreams: you can definitely write in dreams. Maybe the coolest moment of my nerdy uni life was me crashing a deadline for an assignment. Eventually I had written everything except the last paragraph and conclusion and I had to stop and sleep because I just couldn’t puzzle my way round the last paragraph where I needed to make a point, but without getting into the weeds of an explanation bc I didn’t have _that_ many words left. So about 3:30 I went to bed. In my dream, I was back sitting at my desk, realised exactly how to get it to do what I needed (and still make sense) and wrote it and the conclusion. Alarm went at 7ish, I woke, remembered what I had dreamt, and then realised that what I’d written in my dream wasn’t nonsense or about something different but was actually exactly the approach I needed and I could mostly remember the words. Straight back to the desk to type it 95% from memory in the next 10-15 mins. Most genuinely useful dream I’ve ever had and, absolutely to brag: I scraped an A!!! 🎉🎉🎉 This is all like 10+ years ago and I am still so chuffed about that one time, on that one assignment 🙈🤣🤣
Two weeks of D&D Court?! Yes, please!
To be fair on the wildshaping into a creature that is bellow tiny size to escape a grapple, it uses quite a bit of action economy and might actually be more limiting than staying in the grapple and trying to do something else.
Waluigi wild thoughts was great 💙
hmm. not sure on the logic for the reaction. it’s a legendary action and of course it wouldn’t work the other way.
Yes but if the language of the action specifically says it forces a pc to use their reaction to make an attack it relies on that reaction still being present. If it’s been used the pc has no more action economy for the bbeg to commandeer
Oh my god I love Danielle Radford so much this is awesome
YES! Have listened to the Twoyal Tumble so many times it’s so good😩
My thoughts re: counterspell. A creature that is magically skilled enough to use counterspell would be able to recognize the power level of a spell as it's being cast. As a DM, I would tell my players the level of a spell an npc was casting if asked, and I would assume an npc could tell the spell level a player was casting.
It's the mad hatter who traps the batman in his dream world. Understandable that you assume it's the riddler bc he would be capable but it isn't his mo
dice christ says love is love is love 💍
Do we even deserve a mixed bag of them watching the bee movie?
I genuinely beg emily not to do this to herself. It’s really just bad, painfully so
I think actually repeatedly turning into a bug is a great bit. Even asking about it. Like that’s just razzing and I think it’s a rightful razzing.
absolutely cannot believe Emily hasn't seen the bee movie
I can’t believe that’s what happens in the bee movie!
“Fist my ant”
Murph’s “what ?” in response 😭😭
In my teens, I once saw in the grocery store beef flavored dog water, thinking it was funny, me and some buddies bought and tried it... It was the most chemical tasting foul garbage I have ever tasted.... Those dogs are getting ripped off.
“we need to drink this” about dog wine is so funny
“The oathbroken judge” is a metal name of any kind, wrestler, band, bbeg….
Twoyal Tumble short rest? Is it possible
I goddamn hope so 🙏🙏🙏
Can we get an mini episode of Jake being the only judge and Emily Caldwell and Brian all getting goofy ass names in the submissions? Jonk needs his flowers after being so lowly for so long
i don't think the baby boy can handle it, even the tiniest bit of praise goes to his head
I've never been the first comment before! I can say anything and it sets the tempo for the rest of the comments... Well ummm. Seeeexy (Said in a Mavid voice)... I actually see I'm the second to comment (stuffs hands in pockets and kicks dirt muttering... Like Mavid)
Yes!!!
YASSSS
