Cleave mechanics + rule of cool: Cleave on giants’ legs? We have a barb goliath and keep fighting 3-5 giants (plus weenies) per combat in our campaign (lvl 7, 5.5e). Thoughts on allowing the great axe to cleave on a giant’s second leg? (Cleave being a feature that takes an extra attack roll after a successful hit, distinct from the weenie cleave rule) It’s an ongoing DM razz in our campaign that our barb should be able to attack one of a giant’s legs and then cleave into the other because they’re both people-sized. He considered it, but thinks it’s broken.

Question for Emily - Neo Galaderon is arguably dystopian, and 1984 is one of the foundational dystopian texts. At one point, Slug starts counting something and says something like "Yeah cause 2+2=5!" Was that an intentional 1984 reference, or pure coincidence? It's kind of the perfect reference to include, and I teach 1984 to my seniors, so it was on my mind a lot this arc haha. When suddenly a tall, slender green figure also enters the barber shop. It’s blurry and distorted due to your limited vision. The figure approaches your barber and whispers something indiscernable to the barber. The figure pulls out only what you assume is a wallet and passes the barber some cash. The green figure leaves the barbershop (as far as you know). The barber lets out a defeated sigh. He raises his shears and comb and with a shaky voice says “let’s get this over with”. What do you do?

I recall from 8-bit book club that the idea for this podcast was originally something Jake raised to Murph. Jake, What did that conversation look like, and what were you expecting to come out of it, when you first brought it up compared to what happened? What made you bring this up to Murph at all, having never played D&D? How has your understanding of what it means to be a DM, changed now that you’re an expert who has run his own campaign? Great news! All of the existing naddpod campaigns are set to be adapted in the MOST prestigious format known to man, a muppet movie! Who is the one human in every campaign, and do you have any ideas in terms of which muppets would play which character?

I absolutely loved all the voices in Gangs of Neo Galaderon! Hearing all the regional accents to different characters really filled out the vision of this world. For the east coast natives, (sorry Caldwell) did you feel like you were pulling the voices from personal experiences and people you know or more from fiction?

I have a music question for Emily! I feel a bit silly asking this cause I'm probably way off BUT: in episode 10 of Gangs of Neo Galaderon, when the gang make it to the South Avenue Jimmies turf, is that piece of music a riff on anything? And if it is, is it "The Real Slim Shady?" 😅 (This is at around 25 minutes. The first five notes of the wee piano riff sound like a modulation of the first five notes of the main riff of the aforementioned Eminem song, with similar pacing, and I couldn't get the idea out of my head that it was sort of musically referring to there being a fight for who the true "Thin Jim" really is, what with the internal war going on for leadership.) As I said, I'm probably way off. Regardless, I always love Emily's score and this campaign was no exception. I'm a musician myself which is at least one reason why I'm out here inventing musical conspiracy theories. You guys smashed this season! Thanks so much!

Greetings Two-Crew, I have a specific question for Mr. Murphy. At any point did you consider playing Cyberpunk Red for GoNG? As a longtime Cyberpunk player I find that its easier bring in fantasy mechanics into it than to bring Cyberpunk elements into Dungeons and Dragons. Red even has the Elflines expansion. Just curious. One choom to another.

Have you ever played in a game where lighting/visibility mechanics (ie, bright light, dim light, darkvision) were used effectively? I would love to know if or how people use these features at their tables!

Question mostly for Jake but maybe anyone else in the crew can answer too, but since Skaldova is coming back for season 2, are there any new inspirations (books, games, tv, movies) that have made their way into what's to come? I just started NaddPod about 3 months ago at my roommate’s insistence and I have thoroughly enjoyed the pod! Listening to yall has improved both my dming and playing so thank you! I skipped forward a bit to gangs and thought that the chase encounters and lair actions were very intuitive and cool. To Murph: what is your process to try and insure that your lair actions and legendary reactions don’t unduly skew combat in you or the parties favor? Feel like I have a hard time achieving that balance where it is fun and pressuring but not overwhelming. To the players: what was your favorite lair action/chase scene this campaign?

Since you all enjoyed the cyberpunk setting of Neo Galaderon, would you ever consider doing a short campaign within the Cyberpunk Red TTRPG? Also, the TPK at the end of Neo Galaderon was perfect, a big theme in Cyberpunk is: "It's not how you live, but how you go out".

Caldwell's rendition of metal city was amazing. However, the 8-bit book buds have still yet to complete the true metal city adventure book. Would love to hear another attempt at the metal city book even if unsuccessful, which lets be honest is most likely. It would also be awesome to have Jake be apart of this run through and give him a true 8-bit book club introduction. Perhaps finally get him on the show.

What are your guys thoughts on the new star wars and world of war craft dnd books WOTC plans to release next year? Did any of you play war craft when you were younger?

Your pets are humans for a day! What’s the first thing you’d ask them, and how are you spending the day with them?

Jake: Given the amount of accidental video game inspiration in Skaldova C1, did you take the time between campaigns to try out Bloodborne/Witcher/any games referenced by the rest of the crew? Murph: do you see the possible return to any longer form campaigns, even if broken across a few smaller seasons of the show? I loved the storytelling of Bahumia C1 and hold it up as one of my favorite pieces of fiction, but I also know that was super draining as a DM/editor.

I have a DM advice question for you guys, I plan on doing a campaign that takes place mostly In the astral plane, I wanted to do it as a space opera with a lot of large scale ship combat but I wanted to ask for advice on how to run very large ships and their hp and such if my players aren’t necessarily controlling the ships themselves and the large battle is more a setting for their smaller scale encounters.
