The astral sea DM with tons of overpowered NPCs doesn’t sound great, but personally I don’t advise storming away from the table. As an emotional dude who overreacts to things at the table myself, it’s totally possible the DM had something planned to fix it, or could’ve improvised something. If you leave you’ll never know. And even if they don’t , it’s not a huge deal. Saying this as someone who got rly pissy over a tpk just to reflect on it later and realize it did not matter.
It's fucked up that DnD 10 years ago was still 5th edition
“Kick him out” Idk guys, being bad at communicating is a pretty common relationship problem, and breaking up is normal, and it sounds like he’s trying to keep things friendly The DM is the one in the story being a complete freak, maybe kick them?
I think one thing that the Court may be overlooking in the case of the Players v. Double-Ex boyfriend is that everyone still seems to want to be around this dude, ergo maybe he's just an absolute smokeshow beefcake.
Have we considered that this dude might be an absolute smoke show beefcake?? Have we even considered that??
You guys really need to do a dnd court check up like ask all the most notorious or crazy cases and see what happened after they submitted
Hearing Hardwon, Moonshine, and Beverly's voices made me unreasonably emotional... Brb have to go relisten to the entirety of Campaign 1 immediately
Saying “Are you fucking stupid?” to someone you consider your FRIEND is crazy work 🥴🥴🥴
Some friends are like that though. Like how some siblings greet eachother by wrestling and maybe accidentally breaking a coffee table
it’s nice to know me and emily get our tin foils hat at the same conspiracy theory store.
The crew saying I seem like a funny and kind DM will fuel me for the next calendar month. Thank you for hearing my case and for affirming my long table beliefs, I am happy I stood strong.
Hey, just wanted to say I had to say goodbye to my 18 year old cat today and have been crying periodically all day, but this was able to get me cackling with laughter. Thank y'all for all you do
I feel your pain, I had the same thing 2 days prior to your post with my little buddy, Misty. What was their name?
It took me a minute, but I realized the table flipping scenario played out already on Worlds Beyond Number with Lou and it was so damn funny.
But he's the strongest man in Silbury. Great scene
I just need to comment that my wife’s most embarrassing story is sneezing then farting in front of an entire classroom of kids. So that punishment sent me.
Overlooked element of the messy fighter case; the submitter mentioned "the other player" singular, which means this party is two exes and one other person
what is with people getting involved with their game group lmao
The exile case is so fucking crazy
They have to colonize Ilus!
Usually I’m not for letting real world science creep in and define your fantasy world’s magical laws…. But the gust of wind DM choice is 100% what I would have done. I don’t think just because you cast a spell you should be rewarded. A big fire with a lot of wind will make it grow I don’t even think that’s really that arguable. I don’t think gust of wind is high enough of a spell level to put out a God sized birthday cake candle blow-out type gust… but maybe that’s just me.
You could also argue that gust of wind isn’t nearly powerful enough to do ANYTHING… I’d also be on board for that.
I was caught so off-guard when they said my name and started reading my case! But I’m glad they felt the same way I did about the unnecessary harshness of our forever DM. Thank you guys for reviewing my case!
I do agree with forever DM since you burned 1/3 of your ki points and didn't get the other attack, although they were a little harsh
Astral Sea?.... Caldy siting lore? Jake being dialed into his Hardwon voice? Without warmup? Murph been referencing Band Of Boobs a lot? Emily has no tells.... They're planning something... I just can't prove it yet
You were right!
Something about hearing moonshine, hardwon, and beverly voices again makes me feel so nostalgic. I need that bahoomia pre time skip post campaign 1 mini arc lol lemme see these heroes in the astral plane please please please
Man….i miss the boobs so bad wow. That 2 seconds of roleplaying the table flipping was so good wtf. Praying for C1/C3 overlapping canon mini-campaign!!
The 6 player issue should be brought to the PLAYERS and DM. I have had this question before if adding someone would make it a bit to crunchy so I asked my table if they are okay with it. Almost everytime they said yes we understand it will be slower combat but let’s go. So ask everyone as a group. DM is the leader of the table but should always get the input of the party. I will say as a DM that has had six players. I do understand the frustration and I’ve had a friend who was newer to DM scared to take on as many players as I’ve had because it does make balancing encounters very difficult and for my 2 1/2 to 3 hour sessions it makes combat extremely long. I’ve also had a campaign fizzle out because the DM tried to include everyone he could which was 13 players so of course that didn’t work. That said this is a crazy way to handle it. Honestly adding one more person isn’t that big of a deal also, I actually like running campaigns for larger groups because the statistical chance of someone not making the biweekly meeting becomes an inevitability so usually during combat I’m only running 4 to 5 players if I have six players. It’s scary at first but not to bad use swams of enemies don’t care about the balance level on DND beyond just throw the amount of enemies you feel is right.
Not on board with ruling with the fan the flames DM, they have so many times come down against real world logic being applied to DND and this is purely that. The only indication that gust of wind gives in terms of interaction with fire is extinguishing or not. The idiom fan the flames is not physics, lush plants are actually super hard to ignite due to water content. Chemical accelerants tend to burn out very quickly. Plenty of real world reasons why the fire wouldn't have actually become an issue also exist..... Say for example you lit a fire in a fully stone abbey, the odds that some alchemist fire and a fireball destroying it utterly in real life wouldn't make any sense at all. DND logic is completely different to real life. Which means the DM made the choice to fuck with the player rather than reward them, that's what needs to be judged upon I would think.
I don’t think it should have made it worse but it def does not work. Gust of wind is a breeze it is not strong enough to do more than maybe a latent per the rules. Also as an engineer I will say fan the flames also is physics. Increasing oxygen to the flames will make them burn hotter and grow. It’s why you use a blower in things like coal powered forges but I agree a small burst of wing wouldn’t affect green plants because the moisture would have to be overcome
Some truly excellent cases this week. Good job, Jim
So proud of these wise elders (and Barf). 😌 Ya’ll do so well coming to the fairest conclusions, and Barf had the perfect advice/reasoning on every case in my opinion.
holy shit, the level of righteous fury for the excluded player was unreal, absolutely fuck that DM
I emphasize with the confessor. I ran a vampire boss fight for my group and it was the end of a really fun haunted house adventure. My vampire boss didn’t roll above a 6 until he was at 5 HP. Although I was tried, I kept my faith in Dice-Christ and was rewarded with a nat 20, dramatically downing the party sorcerer before being defeated before his next turn. The payoff was fun and dramatic without the party feeling like they were scraping by.
The Dm trying to "stealth" therapy seems to be influenced by the Isekai that is basically Ryan Urfy putting negative points into appearance to gain godly powers except the anime character has more self awareness somehow
please let "dm who calls people stupid" become a recurring character in the vein of blasting grandma
I'm listening to this in between relistening to campaign 1, and I just finished the short rest after the Gemma incident, in which they mention possibly starting Dungeon Court. What a whiplash
I laughed so fucking hard when Murph said “get him” after the mean DM and therapist DM 😂
some of these submissions are pretty obviously fake at this point right? Is it just me? I feel like I’m going crazy hearing these obv formulaic submissions about an innocent player with a crazyyyy DM just trying to get on the show
Nah I accepted long ago most of these are fake. I personally don't listen for the cases, I listen for the judges' banter - I don't play d&d though, can imagine it would be annoying if i was listening to get advice or something like that
Such wonderful timing luv u murph
Sounds like the first LW was banished, which would end as soon as the party members still in the fight got the caster to drop concentration.
Unfortunately no, I wasn’t banished, or at the very least my dm wasn’t following RAW because I did ask if there was anything that could be done to get me back and was told only plane shift. it was narrated in the next oneshot how my character had to find someone in the astral sea to teleport them back to meet up with the party 🙃
Damn that’s twenty Nat 20’s??
i’ve only ever made npcs who are absolute buffoons
I like to make PCs who are absolute buffoons!
Let’s goooo
Excellent
