The goblin player wasnt feeling the character purely cause they didn't feel as included in the story.
For the case of the Goblin not drinking from the fountain: the DM could’ve thrown something in where the barbarian is now in the fountain, and the next person to drink can swap with him. And so on and so forth, and now it becomes a puzzle to get the barbarian back
It doesn’t sound like they were trying to be funny, that sounds like a really uptight table/DM
I can't hear about goblins and sappers without going straight to Dungeon Crawler Carl now
Hot It... Hotit.... Ho tit 🤯 pennywise big naturals was there the whole time.
I am a substitute teacher and I can confirm sophomore or freshman class that doesnt care about doing any work and doesn't care about getting in trouble AND is rowdy is actually the worst. because usually the way they're rowdy always has to do with being gross in like a sexist or other -ist way. had a class like that last week that made me wanna freak out. which would actually be a great punishment for this DM since they LOVE seeing fantasy racism
you’re doing Pelor’s work, truly
I'm a high school teacher, but do I have a +20 fortitude
I love that Codwell suggest Pathfinder 2e, great system, wished you did another round of it !
spelling "caldwell" as "codwell" is killing me lol
Warcraft 2 mentioned!!!
I can’t believe they released a show at a reasonable time😅
Idk im not too upset about the "raise your hand to talk out of character" rule.... i dont think it should have played out how it did, for sure... but ive played in tables where we would put our finger on our nose if we were talking out of character, to prevent things like you the person exclaim something like "WTF WAIT WHAT" and then have to go "no wait that was me, the player not the character" ... that happens kinda often where people say something as a joke or for flavor, but its out of character.. and help not risk miscomunication.... that being said, breaking legs over something THAT OBVIOUSLY wasnt meant to be said out loud is crazy. that rule is usually for "i jokingly tell the baddie to F off" but thats just me, the person, not me the character...
Glad the court pivoted from kindergarten to high school. Kinder teachers are way more patient and understanding than that DM when someone forgets to raise their hand. The parent phone calls and complaints to the principal would be the actual punishment in that scenario.
Witcher guy should do that malicious compliance and do any internal monologs in their head and then raise their hand to interrupt if they try to move on
"Pennywise with a huge rack" I've seen that cosplay, by a few different cosplayers, and it's pretty good.
Stephen King’s Tit
I swear, if that first case is about Dungeons & Drafts I’m gonna be extra miffed they keep ignoring my emails to DM for them. 😆
Wow, shout-out to my hometown library running such cool events! 👍🏽
Really disappointed in you guys, I came to the Patreon looking for Pennywise with a huge rack and nothing.
Me listening to this as a high school history teacher who teaches sophomores….
Same lol I have 11th-12th graders but I think middle schoolers would be the real punishment
Backwards pizza with the crust in the middle is genius. It makes zero sense in name and yet might save the dying racist pizza owner franchises we all know and love
Burst out laughing at this, jake is so good on the spot sometimes
High-school custodian chiming in, get the leg breaker in here.
It Girl as an alt title? I’m also thinking Papa John is related to that … Street Sharks episode maybe? Papa Jean I think. Murph went to die on a hill for some maiden name no one else got. 😅 Not sure why it was to Jake though.
Watching everyone who has never LARPed completely misunderstanding what the hand raising is. The DM sucks, but it's 100% an ex-LARPer.
A tabletop game isn't LARP. In TTRPGs you narrate your thoughts and emotions in character. If you are using character voice, it's in character. One of the main reasons you hand raise during LARP is you aren't sitting at a table.
I already have to bring my own K-cups to the teachers’ lounge!!
It’s so cute that you think kinders raise their hands to talk. Eighth grade is the hardest to teach. 😅
Oh my god I want an all RoboDM episode, that bit sent me sooo hard.
Middle school teacher here and feeling so seen by these punishments lmao
It sounds like the first DM watches a lot of Taskmaster but doesn't quite understand that the reason it's fun when the task is bullshit is because everyone signing up knows that the tasks are bullshit
OH MY GOD I ALSO GOT A GEN Z STITCHI HOPE WE GET THE SAME ONE
Its so funny that you guys instantly clocked sophomores as being the worst year to teach. As a high school teacher the worst possible punishment to me is teaching sophomore geometry
Personally played a lot of games with signals for out of character talk, which was usually to indicate we had a question or something. Not as a rule, but a tool. I personally always used putting my hand on my head for out-of-character speech in those games. That said, enforcing it and punishing for not doing it is cruel and unfair for sure
Oh holy cow that's me!! I'm Emily BR/cheesewipz!! I threw in my stickers as just a funny silly side and knowing I made it to Caldwell's water bottle made me tear up!! Thank you for looking at my weird art!!
would love to see some of the art and maybe pick up a sticker or two
WTF they had the dwarf get hate crimed because of a that??? Lmao what a wild ass thing to do, they need to leave that table
Getting hate crimed in a game is wild haha
Anyone else remember when Papa Jon was on Alex Jones' show?
*flips 3 shrek 2 dvds* oh yeah nat 20 “hey that sounded oddly like 3 shrek 2 dvds and actually not a d20?” “oh idk man”
Leo does WHAT
Caldwell should do a show and tell for PO box stuff! I would love to see the all the cool things they shout out.
Alternate name for Tittywise; Welcome To Dairy
Additional information: My half-sour garlic pickle recipe for the jar, so your dice stay fresh, crisp, and punished: 2 cups of room temp water 1 Tablespoon salt -Whisk together to dissolve salt in a big bowl, set aside 2-3 small pickling cucumbers, washed super well and cut into whatever shape you dig (slices, spears, whole, whatev) 1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds 1/2 teaspoon black mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns 1 allspice berry 1 bay leaf -smash those spices while in a zip-top plastic bag. (Like, Big Bucks and ALSO Big Whammies) 1 sprig of dill, washed well and cut into inch pieces 6 cloves garlic, smashed open with a knife and peeled (and I mean smash, Oppa The Hulk-style.)
Whisky whisky the spices into the brine, jam the cucumbers into the jar, pour over brine, and let vibe at room temp for 2 hours. If you have leftover brine, just make sure all of the spices make it in. After the 2 hours is up, head to the fridge! They're ready in 4 days, but best after 2 weeks!
I tell you what, teaching high school math decimated my mental health so I think that may be the way to go for punishments moving forward.
Aww my cat is also Henrietta :) and she can also read books
DnD court these days is getting tough to listen to. I don’t believe any of the submitters are coming in with good faith and they are leaving way too many details out. Gonna have to just stop listening to these. It’s getting painful. I hope they can get better submissions with more details.
YESSSSS Someone sent them the Gen Z Stitch Blind Box, thats incredible
For the Hand Raising DM. I will say I kinda get the motivation for hand raising. I think actually hand raising is dumb and sucks all the fun out of the game. But as a forever DM I do get the frustration when a character says something aggressive and your like “okay the bruiser draws a dagger and says WHAT YOU SAY” and them being like NO JK JK NOT REAL I was kidding bro I didn’t actually say that. Because it’s a bit meta to say stuff and then recon when it’s not what you want. I have had that happen before. But hand raising isn’t the solution and for character thoughts?? That’s way way too much of an overcorrection. I don’t think this player was doing that and unfortunately was treated poorly bc of the GMs fear of something like that happening.
"is there some sort of cloaca on the side of a mountain that's just popping out goblins" is some of the best worldbuilding i have EVER heard
Murph/Emily- your outfits for Viva Mas Vegas absolutely SLAYED.
Is Caldwell drawing Tittywise? Is Jake painting Tittywise? How much of a refund do I demand if it's not both?
unfortunately it’s too late to request a refund; you’ve been nursing that salad for 8 hours bud
I saw a post s while ago featuring blank Dice so a DM can roll extra dice to insure what they are really rolling
Honestly it seems way harder to not make mistakes as a DM. It’s like the player is a citizen and the DM is the state, i guess? So much more potential to fuck up as the state 😂 i am grateful to the people who’re trying Also someone please give me a chance to play a goblin that blows up
You any chance we could get a mixer bag sometime thats the opposite of a dungeon court? Im kinda curious to hear people's epic stories if times things went awesome in DNd or some dope moves people made that the DMs ran with. Could be cool to get the positive stories. Not that I dislike DnD court. Its been my favorite Naddpod property since before the end of Campaign 3. But I also want to hear good stories you know?
Much like the reverse pizza submitted by bailiff Papa John, a reverse Dungeon Court is a good idea.
Im curious what an episode of DnD court would look like with a single judge a bailliff and 2 attorneys one fir defense and one for prosecution. Maybe the attorney who won the last case gets to choose which side they are on for the next one or something? Or all assigned rolls at the start of each episode. Not that I dislike how it runs at all (also it might become more formal than funny) but im curious what it would look like. Some of these cases it kind of feels like Murph talks first and then the rest all sort of form their opinion around them. (not always of course there are plenty of times when they diverge from him especially if they think its funny) but what would happen if someone had the job to actually defend a bad case. I kind of think it would be even funnier. Especially int he cases where it was genuinly obvious who was right and wrong. Also it may make the cases that are harder to pin down more interesting overall since there would br genuine back and forth. Also one person having the job of defense would force them to look at the case in away they probably wouldn't as a judge. Also im laughing my ass off at the idea of Caldwell and Emily trying to fight over Murph's judgment. Although it could be any of them in any role. (So long as Jake remains in the gutter spot of the Bailiff of course.) I dunno could be fun to try for a n episode or 2 maybe. But then agin why mess with what works.
Worth mentioning. (With the huge caveat that im not indigenous so its possible I may just be virtue signaling here) but to my best understanding wendigos are a piece of Native American (apologies on not knowing the tribe its from specifically) lore and my understanding is its a monster that gets consistently appropriated, misunderstood, and portrayed inaccurately. On top of this my understanding is that the primary reason fir this is that white people have heard bits and peices of the lore of wendigoes and simply ran with it without stopping to consider the impact of doing so. Other cryptids and mythological creatures that from Indigenous lore get appropriated fairly consistently too (Bigfootn skinwalkers ect...) but to my knowledge Wendios are the most prolific. Its also my understanding that due to some incredibly reasonable motivations Most Indigenous folks dont particularly want to share the inner workings of their lore and mythology to us Colonizers. So personally Im of the opinion that the DM of the Campaign with the wendigo should at least be given a formal warning from the court for potential cultural appropriation. Although its also worht mentioning ive done this exact thing with a Monster of the Week campaign I was running before I realized how much of a problem it is that white people keep using ridiculous caricatures of Indigeonous lore for their own entertainment. Also any Indigenous folk who disagree with anything I've said please let me know. Also let me know if im right about what ive said. I dont mean to be speaking for anyone else but id honestly be pretty annoyed if an English man were to fully misuse and distort the legend of the Lepreachaun or the Banshee (im Irish as fuck btw) so I wouldn't want to do the same to any one else. If there are respectful ways to portray these legend sid live to know but if the best way is to simply leave it be and let the Indigenous folk handle any adaptations of this lore than im of the opinion that we should just let go of the Wendigo as plot device. Besides there are other monsters that do similar things in. Other mythologies that have people who actually want to share those stories.
A huge part of the lore also of the creature you mentioned after Bigfoot is that you’re not supposed to bring them up or think about them. Tbf not something I’m willing to look up to verify but my Mexi-Indigenous spouse told me that. There’s literally an entry in a book about cryptids that we own that we don’t open to and have crossed out in the table of contents so we don’t encounter it (and of course this book was written by a white man so no such consideration was made to his audience 🙃). JSYK
I’ve been having a hard time recently and I truly am so grateful for NADDPOD 💛 It really helps to look forward to something every week
honestly i had a feeling at the end jake wasnt rolling actual dice and was just making up a number but then he said he rolled a 16 which would have failed the dc and if someone was going to lie about the number they rolled they'd pick a number higher than the dc. So apologies to the bailiff for the doubt, it will happen again!!
As a school social worker working at a high school is ultimately the greatest punishment of all
As a high school English teacher, the punishment of a sophomore history class filled with cool kids was spot on as a terrible punishment for a crime
Backwards pizza made me laugh out loud
Here's some more info on the case of the nothing door for Justice Axford: The DM did not, in fact, describe anything about our untimely deaths. He really did just say "you all die." We were in a back room where the local brews were fermenting, and the session ended about 20 minutes early, so I doubt he was rushing because the table was reserved. He did not set the stakes for the riddle; in the town a pager told us the temple could bring us great fortune or great pain, but nothing more specific than that. I will not ask for a refund as watching the Sopranos with Pennywise big naturals is punishment enough. Thank you for your swift deliverance of justice! P.S. At the end the DM gave us his venmo so we could tip him, and because I have a hard time saying no when someone asks for tips, I gave him another $5 for a total of $25. With movie ticket price inflation, though, your point still stands.
Wow! Dang! You were robbed
Pennywise with a huge rack? Everyone google "Kotobukiya Horror Bishoujo figures", they're officially licensed scale figures of popular horror franchise characters imagined as beautiful women. Pennywise has a huge rack. So does hellraiser, Jason Vorhees and the dude from Texas chainsaw massacre. It's pretty great.
... This better not awaken anything in me
As a former high school history teacher, I can confirm that punishment was simply too cruel
I'm a few minutes in so may be jumping the gun, but it's killing me no-one has called big rack Pennywise 'TIT'
My favorite DND character I ever made was a goblin sapper! He survived a bunch of misfire explosions that should have ended him, he probably would have taken the drink cause he has a bit of a death wish due to survivors guilt.
I’m a high school teacher and I think teaching middle school would be the maximum sentence.
Former elementary school teacher here and I 100% agree. Middle school teachers are heroes and masochists.
the return of murphbot!
Did the 2-crew forget their papa John tangent that spanned several episodes or are they trying to move on from them
Wow Jake with the If level spoilers with titanic 😉
(This is a joke)
i <3 big naturals pennywise
and other naddpod comments that make me very excited to listen to the episode
Feasting
