Birthday Balloon
On Saturday, My Birthday, I clogged up the video server with so much footage from stuff I shot, that from that day forwards I had to wait until the server clocked over to give me free space (I can upload 20gb a week, and I used it all up the beginning of last week and had to wait for it to reset.
This gave me some production down-time to think about balancing my overheads and output productivity. I’m not just limited by what I can buy into, but I physically ended up having to take time out. Not because I wanted to, but because I bruised my liver from climbing into a balloon without cutting it’s neck off. My bruises all over my butt and body are a sight!
I’ve always wanted to climb into a balloon, so I did that for my birthday, but I’ll have to redo it another time - properly, as it didn’t turn out the way I wanted.
I DID have a good birthday, I played the entire weekend and filmed it. But I was unable to upload and post process it due to server issues and a messed up liver that forced me to sleep for two days straight.
In a previous VIP Post, I went into detail listing all my overheads and realized my hobby has outgrown my capacity, so I had to make changes. I’ve never thought about the money before, because I’ve always done what I wanted to do, but September brings the inevitability that I MUST reach financial Independance - time has run out at this house-sitting accommodation, and I need to be able to pay rent and move. Which means either way, I will have to rent a pool for my use.
I calculated my production overheads for my type of ASMR movies, are no less than $467 a month. And I can no longer afford to keep up the level of productivity I have always taken for granted. Patreon afforded me to be able to slide through bobbing around around $300-$400 a month, so I was always running a deficit with my shoots investing in them.
If I aim for one ASMR movie a month, it will cost me $467 a month on average. If I aim for two movies a month, then maybe I can split the production costs down to maybe $300 per video.
So my aim is to produce 1 to 2 swimming ASMR movies a month. Right now I’m running a deficit with Patreon, so if I can’t produce the movies, I will simply livestream BTS production work, until I get the shoot ready.
I’ve built a new interface for livestreaming, ready to buy the premium Vimeo livestream server, for the 1st of September. (It’s $850 upfront) and I will literally livestream at the very least weekly so you see the production development.
I have NEVER been a true YouTuber, that is producing content FOR YouTube. Because they are not my audience. I never do requests. I get weird comments asking me to copy some girl on YouTube, but honestly why would I do that? I don’t copy others. I always do my own thing. If you want to see other people on YouTube, there’s always others doing stuff for YouTube.
This Balloon video for example - I tested a clip of it on YouTube and it IMMEDIATELY got restricted and marked as adult content. I’m fully dressed. But because they see it as fetish content, it gets marked as mature, and de-ranked. So zero traffic.
Same happened with my birthday outfit because I was wearing rubber. With a matching rubber swimcap. When I get de-ranked, and served no traffic, and applied community strikes for adult content, I get no new Patreon subscribers, and the risk of my YouTube being deleted. So I’m in a losing situation to serve YouTube with anything they want. So I simply don’t make content for YouTube. I make what I want, and I can either promote it on YT, or stick it on p0rnhub. (Free Hosting and it drives me some new patrons).
This is all in the effort to recoup production overheads at $467 a month. Last year, YouTube at its height of traffic, was paying me $60 a month for 6000 subscribers which was still below my production costs. I had finally broke even with Patreon + Monetized YouTube combined, when I got shut down, and couldn’t afford to properly invest in the private stream host to get up and running again.
Let alone go rent a warm private pool to play in!
So here comes the cooler season, where I will rent a warm pool to play in once a month. And outside of those times I will be streaming production work.
September turns a new leaf, and you can all see my Patreon earnings, if you feel that you would prefer to pay per video, then in the tier selection, there are instructions to heading over to the alternate Patreon pay-per-video model.
I have a couple of videos to launch this week for the end of August. And then we are turning the page into new production value!
