Kit Switcher v0.2 is OUT: kits, match balls and referee kits in one plugin
Kit Switcher v0.2 is here, and it is the biggest update since the plugin came out.
Until now, Kit Switcher was about one thing: choosing which 3D kit each team wears. With v0.2 it takes care of everything you see on the pitch before kick-off: the kits, the match ball and the referee kit. And it does all of that on its own. No ball plugin, no referee plugin, no goalkeeper kit plugin. One folder, nothing else.
Here is everything it does, piece by piece.
🎯 Where it lives
Open the Team News screen of any match. The Kit Switcher button sits in the header, right next to Address the Team, styled like the game's own buttons. One click opens the window with both teams in 3D, the stadium, the date and the weather.
👕 Kits
- Every 3D kit in the club's folder shows up as a card: Home, Away, Third and any extra kit you have.
- Mix the pieces. Shirt, shorts and socks are chosen separately, so you can play the Away shirt with the Home socks. The window marks it as a Custom combination so you always know what you picked.
- Both players in the preview are full 3D models. They change as you click and you can drag to rotate them and check every detail.
- Clubs without 3D kits still get kits, built in memory from the club's own colours. Nothing is written to your files.
🧤 Goalkeepers
The keepers have their own tab, their own cards and their own 3D preview. Pick a keeper kit that stands out from both teams, without touching the outfield kits.
✨ Alt kits (new)
Have a special kit that is not in the club's folder? Drop it in graphics\Kits\Alt\3D and name it with the club's ID: ClubID_1.png, ClubID_2.png and so on. It shows up in the window as Alt 1, Alt 2... Goalkeeper kits go in Alt\GK.
- The plugin creates the folders for you the first time it runs, with a HOW-TO-ADD.txt inside.
- Subfolders are fine, so you can organise them by country or league.
- New files show up without restarting the game.
- Alt kits are only worn when you pick them. The game never chooses one on its own.
⚽ Match balls (new)
- 160+ balls in the ball pack, from the Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga, the Brasileirão, the Champions League, the World Cup and many more.
- The right ball is picked for you: more than 200 competitions are already set up. A competition that is not in the list uses the ball of its country's top league.
- Winter ball: when the game asks for a winter ball and the competition has one, it uses it.
- Want a different ball for one match? Open the gallery, search by name, watch it spin in 3D and click to use it. The choice lasts for that match only.
- Want to change the default ball of a competition? It is one line in balls\map.txt.
- You can add your own balls using the FM Ball Converter: the HOW-TO-ADD.txt in the balls folder explains the files.
🟨 Referee kits (new)
- The referee and both assistants wear the kit of the competition: 50+ competitions have their own kit, and there is a default kit for the rest.
- The colour follows the game's own choice, so the referee never clashes with the teams. You can also pick the colour yourself.
- The referee gallery shows a full-body 3D preview of every kit. Click a competition, pick a colour, done.
- The game's original referee kit is always one click away.
- You can add your own referee kits too (HOW-TO-ADD.txt in the referees folder).
🎨 The match screen in your colours
The scoreboard, the bars, the line-ups, the tactics screen and the charts take the colours of the kit each team is really wearing. Play in the Away kit and the match screen follows.
And the small things
- Keyboard shortcuts: arrows and A/D change the kits, Tab switches to the keepers, B opens the balls, J/K the referee and Enter confirms.
- Updates itself: new versions download in the background and start the next time you open FM. The game is never interrupted.
- Only for this match: everything you choose applies to the match you are about to play. Restore all brings the game's kits back at any time.
- It never touches your kit files.
📦 Download: pick what you need
The download page now lets you choose what goes in the zip:
- Plugin: Kit Switcher itself (needed the first time).
- Ball pack: the 160+ balls and the ball of each competition.
- Referee pack: the referee kits of 50+ competitions.
🛠️ Install
1. Install BepInEx 6 for Unity IL2CPP (x64) in the Football Manager 26 folder and open the game once.
2. Unzip the download and copy the FMKitSwitcher folder to BepInEx\plugins. The balls and referee kits are already inside it.
3. Open the Team News screen of a match and click Kit Switcher.
Requirements: Football Manager 26 on Windows, BepInEx 6 and 3D kits in your graphics folder (the FM Kits Hub app downloads them for you).

Can i use this on fm27 tommorow?
I haven't had a chance to get my hands on FM27 and test it yet. I'll start porting the plugins tomorrow.
I've already downloaded FMKitSuite, I understand this one needs to be downloaded as well to have full content, correct? Massive job, congrats
Yes, thanks
Hi there, thanks so much for all your hard work. This is such an amazing mod! One issue I am having is with having alt kits show up. I like to download them from FM kit creator, which includes 2 pngs. One for the kit, and the other from the textures. If I rename the kit one, it loads as an alt but not with the textures. Is there anyway to use both? Thanks
Two PNGs? To be honest, I've never seen a kit split into two separate files. You just need to use the 3D kit texture and put it in the alt folder.
fmk bundle file where to put?
quick question. Does this work with a game already started or should I start a new game?
Yes, it works while the game is running.
the socks are riding a bit high, but other than that I love it
What do you mean?
gran trabajo. Felicidades
Gracias
