She Knows Mom Can See Everything
Freshie isn’t just resting her feet. She’s testing how long Aelira can pretend she doesn’t notice.
Every time the car hits a seam in the road, Freshie’s soles shift against the dash and her toes flex. She feels the vibration travel up her legs and into her shorts, and she doesn’t adjust. She lets the denim dig in a little more. From the driver’s seat, Aelira catches the movement in the rearview - bare feet, long legs, the way the cutoffs have crawled high enough that the soft skin at the top of her thighs is on full display. Freshie watches her mother’s eyes flick up, then snap back to the road. She does it again on purpose. Ankles uncrossing, one foot sliding higher, toes spreading against the warm plastic.
Aelira’s hands stay steady on the wheel, but her breathing has changed. She knows her daughter is watching her in the mirror too. The sunglasses hide her eyes, so Freshie has to read the rest of her - the way her shoulders stay a little too square, the way her mouth stays closed instead of making the usual small comments about the traffic. The silence is louder than any scolding. Freshie likes that. She likes knowing Mom is trying not to look and failing every few seconds anyway.
She shifts again, slow, letting the thin floral top slip lower across her chest. The fabric is already stretched tight. One strap has slipped halfway down her arm. She doesn’t fix it. Instead she turns her head just enough that Aelira can see her profile in the mirror, the little smile, the way her chest rises when she takes a deeper breath. Freshie knows exactly what her mother is seeing: the same body she used to put sunscreen on, now sprawled out and making the passenger seat look indecent. The thought makes her toes curl against the dash.
Aelira finally speaks, voice low and even. “Feet down, Freshie.”
Freshie doesn’t move them. She just meets her mother’s eyes in the mirror and answers, soft, “In a minute.”
Neither of them believes it. The highway keeps rolling. Freshie’s soles stay planted. Aelira’s grip on the wheel doesn’t loosen. The only thing moving is the tension between them - tight, hot, and getting worse with every mile neither of them looks away.

Mommy’s gonna need to find a rest stop soon.
But we can't see anything fun
Definitely an interesting beginning! Can't wait to see what plays out! Great descriptions too!
I think these two could use a male companion! 😅❤️🔥🔥
Or...maybe, a female companion?..."Hitchhiker Peach?" 😈🔥🔥🔥
