Status update & Patron milestone reward - Part 3
It was an amazing week, and right now, I'm drained. Releasing the game on Steam and GOG was such a relief in many ways, and I could feel how my stress levels have reduced since yesterday.
The launch went smoothly, thanks to rigorous testing by my team of testers, and the launch also exceeded my expectations for it.
It makes me both overjoyed and intimidated seeing what level we're at after these 3.5-ish years of development of Being a DIK.
The best feeling about today is that I can put 100% focus on game development again very soon.
The last two months have been filled with testing, bug fixing, behind-the-scenes work in preparation for the Steam/GOG release, and customer support.
It's been necessary work, but I'm happy knowing I can get back to what I truly love doing very soon - creating.
I have been sneaking away to work on the interlude a lot throughout all of this. It's been my guilty pleasure, and it's coming along very nicely.
I don't dare estimate how far I am with the development, but I have a very good feeling about the progress. I'll know more soon when I work full-time on it.
Season 3 release information
When Season 3 drops on Patreon, with the interlude being the first mini-episode, I want to clarify what you can expect when it comes to the release.
You will be able to get the base Season 3 version (The Interlude) from these tiers:
Huge DIK tier ($25) at release
DIK tier ($10), three days after release
And even the Mini DIK tier ($5), two weeks after release
This means that you don't have to pledge the DIK tier to get the Interlude. And you can use this version and patch it throughout Season 3 in the Mini DIK tier if you wish.
The usual release schedule will resume starting with episode 9, which follows the interlude. When episode 9 is released, the base game is placed in the DIK tier as usual, and only the patches will be available in the Mini DIK tier.
Transferring save files to Season 3
You can use any save transfer files from either Patreon/GOG/Steam Season 2 versions to start playing Season 3 on Patreon when it is released.
To show you how it looks like when you transfer a save to Season 3, this is an example of the Patreon/GOG import screen (they share the slots).
And if you click the text button up top that says "Click to change source," you can conveniently swap to importing the Steam save files. Like this:
Click any of your save files to load and continue your adventure.
The actual saving and loading within Season 3 are handled like usual; only the save transfer between Season 2 and Season 3 looks like this.
The saves you make while playing the Patreon version won't work with Steam or GOG versions when those versions are released in the future.
I hope all of this gets clear in time; it often helps to have the game and click the buttons for yourself to understand it better. I'll do my best to help sort out any confusion along the way.
Patron milestone reward
I'll end this status update with a huge thank you to everyone supporting me here and/or on Steam/GOG.
And here is the next reward in the patron milestone series; the first wallpaper of Maya and Josy, as ordered.
We're up to part 3 now out of...many parts.
As usual, download the 4k and full HD versions in the attachments below. I made an ultrawide version of this wallpaper too. Enjoy!
Have a great weekend, DIKs and HOTs

Between this and Acting Lessons I have had a wider range of emotional impacts than in all of the movies I have watched combined.
Acting Lessons was good and really threw me for a loop. Hopefully, we won't have to make some of the same choices for BaD
So when will we be expecting a Master Class on how to write a gripping and emotional visual novel?
Honestly, this is the best game I've played in the last few years. It's unreal the level of depth, care, immersion, and emotional quality your work carries. I found the game on Steam and at first kind of ignored it. I knew the trend for adult VN's. Most are kind of lame and only there when someone is looking for an alternate to the HUB. But after reading the reviews I decided to give it run. Over 30 play hours later I'm still playing it. There were parts that made me cry with emotion it was so superbly done. You have given me a cast of characters that I'm as emotionally attached to in the same way as the Mass Effect crew. Your choice of music is sublime, your animations are superb, and quality of your game outshines most triple A titles. This is an amazing work of storytelling and connection. Can't wait for Season 3 as I'll be buying it on Steam and staying subbed here on Patreon.
Hey man, new to the adult novel franchise of video games. I really enjoy this game and story line, both for the sexual content and just how well put together it is. I look forward to your next seasons as ive grinded both seasons of being a dik. Hoping for more lily content, but any content at this point is a major win. Keep up the great work and dont forget to take a break when you need one. Dont need you burning out.
Just got done with season 2, been playing yours games since acting lessons released, amazing work as usual it’s actually unbelievable how good DIK is and I can’t wait too see where it goes. Keep up the good work.
Absolutely love this game. Found it on steam and hooked, need more of Quinn best character imo!
i am really hyped for season 3 cant wait for it to start coming together, but for the time being its time to replay this a 1000 times as season 2 was fantastic
Just finished season two on my first playthrough (I now need to try neutral and chick affinity). I felt like I needed to become a patron as a thanks. What a story line. Was not expecting such a plot twist 😂
Finally got to the end of Season 2 and loved every minute that I spent playing. Great storylines, shockers, great visuals. Awesome work! Keep it up.
love every bit of this. just one question: are you focusing on Being a DIK until further notice? How long do you think Being a DIK wil be?
Yes, it's my only project and focus. You can read more about it in the previous Q&A. Previous Q&A: https://www.patreon.com/posts/47111032
Congrats on Season 1, the best game I played last year, and now Season 2, the best game I've played this year. I hope you're still planning a developer Q&A at some point.
Yes, the Q part of the Q&A will be posted this month. I'm excited for it!
Hey DOC, can you add some kind of words in the top corner to let me know what song plays when the songs change. These songs are 🔥but i wish there was an easier way to identufy them. Hope u can add a Being A Dik Playlist or something to spotify one day
The reason I haven't is that I find it immersion-breaking to update the screen with that information. I've thought about having the music app strip display it on the phone, even though you cannot interact with the buttons to skip songs etc. during normal scenes. Almost all songs are placed in the music app under their genre, so for now you can either ask the community or listen to the songs and add them as favorites to find the names of them.
Fantastic! Glad to hear it's all going well. Can't wait for season 3. Hype!
Also, thank you for all the hard work you put in. It's appreciated

xD
Great news!! You need to get a well deserved rest Doc
Will all renders from the patron milestone reward have an UW version or is this the only one?
The wallpaper ones for Josy and Maya will.
Glad to hear the release on GOG/Steam goes well and now you can really go 100% Focus to Season 3. Enjoy your weekend Love 🧡🖤
thumbs up
