Status update Episode 4
I had a great and productive week that was mostly spent on coding apps and free-roam events.
One free-roam event, for Derek's branch, is complete and 95% of the code for all apps is done (which was the huge progress this week).
It always takes a bit of extra time creating new environments for free-roam and new scenes in general. In Episode 4 there will be unique and new free-roams based on the choices you made in Episode 3.
Something that I always wanted to improve upon, but didn't have the time for, until now, was the Chat app.
This week I added a new app to the in-game phone, named Swyper. It's a dating app and here's a sneak peek.
The chat functionality that I created for Swyper has also been applied to the Chat app (Episodes 1-4).
Here's how it looks now, note that Chat and Call apps have been merged into a single app named Contacts, too.
I can now make Chat dialogue programmatically instead of using Photoshop for it and this will let me add more content to the Chat app faster than before.
You don't have to replay the game for this new functionality. However, you will miss out on viewing the history of your past choices in the Chat app, but you're already used to this with the current design (v0.3.1).
I haven't posed a lot of renders this week, as the render queue has been fairly big I just let the PCs do their work while I wrote code and designed other art.
One animation that took 12 days to render, the winner of the Teen vs Milf poll, was completed this week and I'm really happy with how it turned out.
So far, I've produced 74 animations and ~1000 renders for this update.
I will have to go back to posing animations soon, as there are ~15 animations in the queue and many left to produce.
All in all, it feels like I'm making good progress!
Playing the Episode in its current state gives me a good feeling that Season 1 will be wrapped up just as I wanted it to be.

Hey, this game is freaking crazy good. Your sext dialogue in this one is drastically better than in AL, which was the only (minor) criticism I had with that story.
Glad to hear it. It's been an area I've tried improving upon.
More just a curiosity question, but in terms of timeline, when were you thinking the next update might be out? Not begging or bothering, more curious given how many changes/improvements you are making.

My first western adult VN was AL and I was a bit skeptic to try this genre. But with the very positive review, I decided to give it a try and I'm just glad I got to play something so good. The decision to join your patrons was made very easily. Your storytelling is really good, with a dash of realism and great character progression. Thank you for the consistent update news DPC, can't wait for the finished BADIK Season 1! And Jill is best girl.
You must have written wrong when you write that Jill is the best girl, you probably meant Maya. I'm just ironic. It's fun that we feel different, that's what "I think" Dr. Pink Cake wants, that there's nothing right or wrong.

i'm really excited for your work. actually just bought Acting lessons on wednesday and got completely amazed, so i had no chance but to support on Patreon. Just finished Episode 3 of being a DIK. It really shows that you get better and better. If you do the same as in Acting lessons from that point i will probably throw a childish tantrum though. lol
Really excited about those news! Nice concept there with the Swyper app! Can't wait to see more of Envy/Nicole! Just like the MC, I didn't recognize her at first sight because of her clothes, haha. She had the best sex scene in the last episode, imo. Lots of poses, combined with arousing writing (which I believe are essential in creating a great sex scene). Happy to support you on another patreon cycle. :)

Let your PC in-charge of rendering rest at least 2 hours every now and then. I know 24/7 rendering is cool and all, but in my experience, leaving the PC working 24/7 for more than 2 weeks slows it down to a crawl the longer it goes beyond 2 weeks :)
2 weeks? One of my PCs has been rendering 24/7 for 14 months. ^^ When I pause between animations, I check their state. I update Windows/Drivers etc, then they get back at it. Haven't noticed any problems with it and their sole task is rendering in offline mode and that doesn't seem to slow them down.

That looks really cool. I guess one of the side benefits of working full time on this is you can focus on the details more, like all of the coding and systems. Have you thought about adding a built-in walkthrough or guide, such as adding context to dialogue choices, like +1 Jade, like the mod you can download for the game? I've always liked the games which have built-in guides like that, but I understand they can take a lot of work to do.
The potential walkthrough (3000 patrons goal) would cover everything. I did have the statistics screen for the main girls in the first Episode, but I moved away from that concept as it isn't supposed to be a hunt for scores that drives the choices in the game. I want the story to be experienced and eventually branch out into different paths instead of having a mod telling the player that "this choice is right", because there's no right or wrong choice, there are only different paths you travel. Just like in life you can fail/win and life goes on and takes you places. So, it's not a workload issue why I wouldn't add that, it's a game philosophy standpoint.
Wow! Love swyper and contacts, that's fantastic functionality. So much work! It feels like you're developing three games in one. Congrats 💪 Looking forward to getting to know the real Nicole!
