Status update Episode 12
This week, I have mostly playtested and polished the episode. I played plenty of runs from a variety of different branches. As always, there's a lot of canon content flavored by choices in the episode, and there are plenty of branched scenes and unique branch content, too.
It took me roughly 6-6.5 hours to play through the episode once without mini-games, while reading everything, not rushing but also not pausing for longer than needed. The duration would have been slightly longer if I had played with mini-games enabled, and in subsequent runs, it depends on how much content you read again or skip through. I also know every bit of how the free roam events work, which should shave off some play time too - you know, in case you get lost trying to find something wink wink.
As a whole, it's an episode worthy of a season finale in many different ways. I can't wait to read the discussions and your reactions.
Main menu changes
I did some work on the main menu and decided to make the platform versions more similar. I added a changelog button to the main menu. Click it, and a dialogue pops up with the log of version changes. The version number has moved into this changelog as well, and in its place on the main menu, you'll find a Quit button, much like the Steam/GOG versions.
Animation queue
All PCs are rendering animations, and the speed has sadly slowed down a bit. But it's not by much; we're talking a 5-10% general decrease.
The decrease comes from the kind of lewd scenes the PCs are rendering. I've had one lewd scene that rendered faster than the rest, and that lewd scene only has one more animation left to render. Of the remaining 4 types of lewd scenes in the queue, they seem to be similar in render times.
31 animations remain in the render queue, and the estimated remaining render time is 15-16 days - still on track for the end of the second week of July.
Polishing
After playing, I realized I needed a few more renders in one area of the episode. I will pose and render those next week when I work through my to-do list of polishing activities.
That to-do list is smaller than usual. It only has 21 to-dos after this week's runs, and I haven't stopped to fix anything yet; I've just been playing and making notes on what to fix. Usually, this to-do list has 70-100 things to fix during the polishing phase.
I think the low count is a testament to the focused work I did for every branch during this development cycle. Hopefully, I didn't let much slip.
New feature - Sex sounds
I've playtested the feature I've been working on for a few weeks, and based on what I've seen, there's no reason not to include it in v0.12.0.
Today, I can reveal what it is. I've added sound effects to lewd animations. We're talking sex sounds here. It's a new feature that you can enable/disable that comes with a separate volume slider, like this:
So if you don't like what you hear and want to keep the game the way it used to be, you can mute it.
To clarify what it is and what it isn't, I've worked on making the sounds effective without letting them steal too much attention.
As there are no voice actresses for the girls, we're not talking about moans and sexy talk; we're talking about different kinds of body sounds. Kisses and blowjobs are not included, as I felt those would need voice acting to have a good effect. And I've been very careful when adding the sound effects, as I wouldn't want anything to come off as off-putting.
The labor-intensive part was the synchronization, as I had to go through 1400+ animations to do this. But I did that in a few days of efficient work.
I manually synchronized the sound with each animation, then wrote a script to automate the audio muxing. Running the script and merging animations with audio takes less than 5 minutes with that script - I love scripts, they make development tasks so much easier.
I'm pleased with the way it turned out. I think the sounds elevate the lewd scenes, but I'll leave the final verdict to you.
This feature does, however, come with a bit of a problem - Episode 12 patching. The majority of the video files have been updated to include sound, so to get this feature with patching, you'd need to download a huge patch, which would almost make patching redundant. You would have to re-download all the animation RPA files for each episode of the season.
So, I have decided to exclude the updated movie RPA files from the episode 12 patch and make them available as a separate download if you want to add the sex sound while patching.
To avoid confusion, this is what it will mean for this release:
Basically, if you intend to patch your game and want the updated animations with the sound effects, you'll need to download some extra optional files. And if you intend to download the full version of the game, you don't have to worry about it - it's included by default.
If you're not comfortable patching your game, I strongly recommend downloading the full version.

Dang, I'm more hyped about this game's new episode than about any other game, series or movie. Even more when considering a 6h+ hours per playthrough, holy.

I am overly hyped right now! Can't wait for the new Lewd sounds 😄 it has been something I've hoped to be implemented for a long time. Love that's it's only noises as well and not actual voices. Not that I'd hate hearing voice actors in this wonderful game, it's just that we've gotten so far without voices, I've actually imagined what each characters voice would sound like in my head and it would be weird to hear another voice instead. Hope that makes sense 😆 Thank you for all the work you've put in as always!
I'm happy without voice acting, and most of the time its distracting like subtitles when people are speaking English. unless its Brad Pit in Snach

I've been tempering myself about this but now we're so close I'm FUCKING HYPED! This is gonna be great.
If it took you as much as 6 to 6.5 hours to go through the episode while knowing it by heart, it looks at least 8 to 10 hours for me as I often just put it in auto and take my time reading it slowly and enjoying the renders. I also play with the minigames on. That's a lot of gameplay for just a single episode and I thank you for it. I love that rendering is still going well and that you have so few things to fix and add during your polishing process. It shows how thorough you are. While I'm happy that those who love it will be able to enjoy "sex sound", I gotta admit that it's not for me. I've played AVNs that do have them and others that don't and I prefer the later. For me, sex sounds just makes the sex scenes comical and it makes me laugh. I can't stay serious when I hear the sound of clapping cheeks. :D I'm weird like that. ;) So, I'll probably try it to see if I like it and also to honor the time and effort you've put into it, but I'll probably end up muting it if I'm gonna be honest. But I've seen people criticizing the lack of sound effects in sex scenes on this AVN and others before, so I'm happy that they will finally get what they wanted. I'm sure that it's gonna be a popular feature.

The second that I finished episode 11, I thought, "I need to know what happens next, right now!" After the all the waiting, I am finally on the precipice of getting answers and I find myself asking, "Am I ready?" I don't know.
I'm not sure either! I just feel like we're gonna experience a true roller coaster of emotions in the next episode! So many big things have been foreshadowed in last episode and I just feel that even in the relationships that looks like they are going super well (Jill and Sage to mention a few), there's gonna be trouble in paradise. And I don't think I'm ready for that.
6,5 hours of gameplay is ...insane! Looking forward to it! A question, when you feel ready to give us the launch date? Looks like things wrapping up?
Release dates are always announced during beta testing. That's when I know the workload needed for the testers.

If I download the full version of the game for season 3 when Episode 12 gets released to get the sex sound feature for Ep9 to Ep11 will I have you to unlock all lewd scenes & special renders again??
Nope. The animations will simply be replaced and you will keep your unlocks. Good question! Be sure not to save your game during animations, as that could potentially screw up your save file. Always save at the end of an episode, at the screen that shows a picture recap of the episode you just completed.

6.5 hours? No episode has taken less than 11 hours for me in the first run, and I don't think this one will be an exception. Mind you, I play with minigames on. But the main difference, probably, is that I see no reason to rush through the episode. There are many scenes that should be properly appreciated and they take longer than just the minimum time needed to read the text.
It's always hard to estimate playtime since people read and play at different speed. Some players say they finished episode 11 in 2-3 hours of playtime, and others needed 12-14 hours. So, it's highly individual. I'd say the playtime I'm trying to report is similar to episode 11 for me.
Adding sounds to the game's central Sarah scenes is definitely the right call!
There are many changes in this season finale; you continue to polish the game, not just visually, but also by trying to make it more immersive. The hard work you put in is appreciated. Have a good one Pink.

6.5 hours for one branch without minigames, jesus the season finale is gonna take up all my time, since i wanna see everything, and appreciate the work you have put into this game once again. Season 3 Finale is gonna be peak, and i bet you are gonna have a laugh when you read through all our disscusions and reactions to the episode. i myself is gonna have a MAJOR problem when you release the episode and that is i dont know which branch to start with. i just know im gonna spend atleast 30 min figuring out what save to start with Tho it will probably be my best girl or i might save her for last. When you release S3 finale remember to take some well deserved time off for yourself before starting on s4 you have worked really hard on s3 so it more than deserved, your community arent going anywhere we will still be here when you come back from your time off and be just as exicted to see what you have in store for us. The amount of high quality content all from story/branches/the feels to each character having ther own unique personality and the the amount of time you have put into the game really shows once you play through each episode, with each episode getting better and bigger than the last. As always Doc enjoy your more than well deserved weekend and thanks for another amazing update much love from all of us.
I can't speak for you, but for me I'm gonna go with Jill first and then Sage. In my opinion, they're the best girls and as a shameless romantic, I think it's the two cutest love stories in the game and some of the very best I've ever seen in a video game.

Obviously you're focused on wrapping up S3 at the moment, but once all that is finished and released, are there any plans to add the sex sounds to S1 and S2?
My ambition is to work on remastering S1/2 at some point after the game is completed, bringing it to an equivalent standard to where the game is by then. It will be a while until that can happen, though.
