Status update Episode 12
Happy Friday!
The animation queue is down to 62 animations, and the render speed has been very good this week. I haven't counted the remaining frames or updated the ETA for the render queue, but there should be little to no change to last week's ETA based on what I saw this week.
I have played and polished the Others' branch and discovered many details/bugs/issues that I've worked to fix. I even had to fire up my old main PC to get some files to fix some issues.
I've also been working on things like the walkthrough DLC, Steam achievements, special art, updated music licenses, and QA testing of all animations to ensure the 4K conversions have truly worked.
I'm still going to test the others' branch some more next week, and I have a to-do list of polish activities I'm working on at the moment. That list includes notes like "this render has clipping", "you need another SFX here", "that dialogue reads weird", and "that mini-game isn't balanced enough".
I'm making sure I use the remaining time of the render queue to work as hard as possible on polishing, and I will get around to the missing SR sets one of these days, too.
Get your saves ready in time for the release
I like to remind every Patreon player that it's important where you save your game. There are more changes to the old code than usual in this release, which might cause a shift in where your save files load from. This shift can lead to crashes when you try to load your game.
As always, to be on the safe side, save your game at the end of the episode where the game asks you to save. This is the screen I'm talking about.
Go through all of your saves and save at these screens of any of the episodes - it doesn't have to be at the end of episode 11, it can be at the end of episode Interlude, 9, or 10.
While you could get lucky with saves in other places of the game, the end-of-episode save screens are the ONLY spots I guarantee your save file will work with the new update.

I must say DPC, you do a fine job of polishing your games. I can't say a single spot in the game where I have seen any artifacts or clipping or any such issues in my 4 years of playing your games.
I am curious about the "new" girl shown in the lab and parties. Her development could be interesting.

i cant wait. ive been addicted for 3 years now . these annual/semi annual releases have been lovely. i cant complain with how much depth and effort goes into it unlike other peoples projects. stay wonderful DPC. i will be here when it releases as always!

Happy Friday DPC & Everyone! It is impressive to see how much background work is happening, from getting ready for the 4K QA testing to Steam achievements. I am waiting calmly for that Steam release. I just crossed 396 hours across 6 different playthroughs, so I am 100% ready to buy Season 3 on day 1 of the Steam release! Thank you for all the amazing, hard work you do!! I know episode 12 is going to be the last one of Season 3, and I’m not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere, but is this the final season, or will there be a Season 4?
There's a season 4 already planned. So, don't worry, there's still more BaD coming for quite a while! :)

I'm so much hyped by the episode 12 that it's the first thing I'm thinking about when I start up my computer! It seems like rendering is going foward nicely and it still keeps me hopeful for a July release. I like how you use that time to polish the episode while your computers are rendering. It means the release will go smoothly. We're going to have a blast going through that episode soon! I can't wait to see all those mysteries being solved next seasons... unless you want to tease us a bit more and resolve them in the next season haha! :D Have a nice week end and a productive yet fun next week Doc!

Oh god, achievements. I've been fearing having to beat Elena's high score since I first played episode 9.
As always Doc, thanks for the update on what you have been doing always look forward to reading it. sheesh we are getting closer and closer to episode 12 and damn am i exicted for you to release it my time wont consist of anything but BAD, eat and sleep when it comes out. Even tho i havnt played s1/s2 and episode 9-11 for a while everything and every convo is still fresh in my head and that says alot when i tend to forget stuff like that, but this AVN is just too good to forget. I know my self to the point when im done with episode 12 im gonna start all over from season 1 again on every branch just to get the whole story of s1-s3 in one go, so i know imma spend a shit ton of time on BAD again just as i did, with the other 2 season when they were complete. as always Doc have a nice weekend, fully deserved as always and looking forward to next fridays update.

Any chance we could get the English minigame keyboard compatible straight from the beginning or would that be a big undertaking?
So I've always been curious, for the safe file at that spot do you place that outside of the pry file for the chapter, be it script.rpy or another rpy? Wondering how best to keep save files from corrupting when adding content (reliably)
When loading saves, RenPy loves consistency and no changes in the surrounding code. Make a label and a scene call and never ever change the code within that block. Saving/loading there should work regardless of the changes you make outside of that label. example: label save_here_label: scene my_save_image with dissolve#tell them to save here $ renpy.pause() Never change anything in that block.
I'm very excited what'll happen next with all the different branches that could all lead back to the Others branch depending on the Zoey decision or directly lead to a new Zoey branch. Also in the Others branch with the option to get more serious with Lily in the future or idk if u can get more serious with Nicole/Envy too haven't played her path in the Others branch yet. So many optional ways tho I already got like 10 saves at the end of episode 11 that I wanna continue and it'll be even more until episode 12 release. God I just love those decision games
