Your children needn't be your jailors
I suppose that this is an 'opinion piece'. It does seem to me that modern parents should be more like their grandparents, and let children roam free more.
Would any of my opinions on child-rearing ever survive contact with my actual children? I may never know.

Looking back on my life, it seems we have had a 50 year trial of the assumption that children are little angels & will become little gods if they are never smacked or fail an exam. The result is children stabbing each other to death in school or assaulting their teachers. Those who have become university administrators are so convinced of their holiness they think they are entitled to tell everyone what to think, reality & truth ignored.
What are the pros and cons of a monthly vs per content unit (i.e. per video) model? Since your cost is mostly your time, it seems a bit artificial to functionally withhold support if you don't happen to publish a video during a particular month. I don't pretend to know what the solution is for content creators who are actually producing insightful and research driven content in a marketplace dominated by boobs and cat videos, but I would prefer for my small role to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem.
Post Away Lindy we need more videos from you not less, you know what I'm going to increase my subscription per vid again just to wind people up :P
If you keep publishing shorts and charging for them I will be forced to unsupport you on Patreon. You want to publish them on YouTube to boost your visibility? Good on you. But leave me out of this sharade.
I did not charge you for this, nor the other one. I agree that charging for these as though they were the equivalent of long-form videos is unfair.
