YouNow live session for patrons

There is a website called YouNow, which specialises in doing live streaming video.  So far as I can tell, by using it I will be dragging the average age of all users up by a few years.  Anyway, I have had the idea of doing a live stream sometime soon, and telling my patrons and no one else when this will be, so we should have the show to ourselves.  The system takes its input from webcams, so this would be a one-to-two-hour session of me, a webcam, my patrons, and questions and answers going back and forth.  You would be free to ask whatever you wanted, and since there are not so very many of you, each of you would stand a high chance  of getting your questions answered.  There would be no charge.  This is one way I have of saying thank you for being a patron.

When should this be?  Soonish, I think - within a fortnight seems reasonable.  Which day and at what time?  Well, you come from all round the world, but with a strong bias to Britain, western Europe, and the USA, so some time convenient for those living in Greenland seems a good compromise.   If I picked Saturday 16th April at 5 p.m. then this would be noon for New Yorkers, and 9 a.m. for Californians, and 7 p.m. for the Finns, and 10.30 p.m. for the Indians.  For those in Sydney, this would be 3 a.m. on Sunday.

Is this a good time?  Is this a good idea?  Are there things people would like me to have prepared beforehand?

Sounds good. I would like to hear any thoughts you might have about wargaming.

Does it have a means of recording automatically? I like live sessions myself, but as you point out, timing can be a huge issue -- but many live sessions can be fun to watch later, as much as any other video of that nature etc.

perhaps you can discuss specific historic event/battle, some middle ages TV show or movie or even a book (like the Iliad one) and we can read/learn about it in advance so you can go deep, for some of the time. Schedule time is OK/

I agree. It would be very interesting to have a general subject or theme picked in advance.

If this is successful, perhaps you could do themes: gaming, weaponry, or my personal favorite, pointing out anachronisms or just plain wrong things in movies.

I think this is an excellent idea! I am away for one Friday/Saturday of this month, so I do hope that it isn't the same weekend. But, even if it is, still a great idea and very well reasoned. I will try to be there!

Yeah this'd be super cool, perhaps prepare a topic or something for any downtime before/between questions.

That's a really cool idea, and the time seems pretty fair.

I would absolutely love this! I think it would be so much fun. The time also seems to work great

Sounds like a great time. I would be there on Saturday for sure. As a reminder you should send us lots of reminders because my mind is rarely minded and reminders will ensure I mind the time. 😝
