I'm taking a DNA test
This wasn't quite the video I intended. I live in a city that is pioneering in the field of genetics. Newcastle University has one of the oldest genetics departments, and there is the International Centre for Life here, so I had high hopes for an interview in a laboratory filled with machines that go ping, with an expert in the field. Unfortunately, such was the typical foolish cowardice of the authorities in charge of these institutions, that I couldn't get permission to video either the labs or the employees. So, instead, you'll just have to put up with me rabbiting on for a quarter of an hour.
There will soonish be a follow-up video of the results I get...

My cousin had this done on Ancestry.com and the results came back with a 92% probability of a relative in Washington state. We live in New York. The picture of the man in Washington looks stunningly like my cousins father (my uncle). My uncle served in WW2 in the pacific theater and was stationed in Washington before being deployed there. The age of this man coincides with the time frame my uncle would have been there. So it’s possible that this is a step brother to my cousin. The problem is, my uncle died a few years ago and his wife has Alzheimer’s and is far gone. If my cousin reaches out to this man and it becomes apparent that they are brothers, the potential is there that the man could harbor bitterness for never having known his father or if his father could/should have taken care of his offspring, assuming he was even aware of him. On Amazon there are reviews for these services and m some of them there is warnings from people who’ve done them that it potentially opens you to being sued for possible parentage or neglect etc and all you initially were doing was searching out your roots. So I recommend proceeding with caution or speak to a lawyer before clicking “ok” like we all do without thinking.
I don't see how I could be sued for something I could not possibly have known about, but thanks for the cautionary tale.
Darn! I love the machine that goes ping.
It's the most expensive machine in the hospital!
If you ever need a look round a DNA genetics lab. Just message me. I owned a paternity testing lab but switched to forensics, but my friend still manages it.
Where are you based?
Are you doing the full health test that includes the raw data? <a href="http://slatestarcodex.com/2014/11/12/how-to-use-23andme-irresponsibly/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://slatestarcodex.com/2014/11/12/how-to-use-23andme-irresponsibly/</a>
Aha! I hadn't seen that.
What does this have to do with axes?
