Pint actually used to be spelled 'pinte', which would regularly indicate the long vowel/diphthong 'eye'. Don't know why we stopped, really. Also, there's a few words that can be used to distinguish Canadian from American accents when the 'oo' thing doesn't work (like, if they don't pronounce 'sorry' like 'soorry'). 'Vague' and 'bagel' are the two that immediately come to mind.
I feel like you should put a warning on this episode for flashing lights, I'm fine with my light sensitive eyes but anyone that might have Epilepsy might need a warning ahead of time.

It's about two brothers, one who's a detective solving murders, and his genius mathematician brother who consults on cases. So fucking fascinating istgggg. I really think you and Ant would love it!

The reason we have different pronunciations for words that seem like they should sound the same (for instance, mint and pint) is because the languages from which the words originated are different and had different rules of pronunciation. English, being a mongrel of language, steals from other languages and applies the rules dependent on where the word was stolen. Thus a lot of words may seem like they should have the same root and same sound, but do not.
