[Question] Vampire creation + Coven management?

Hello everyone!

Our programmer is wrapping up the character creator and soon he'll start the NPC schedule and relationship system. Something we were discussing about today, was that this is the right time to expand NPC interactions as a whole and tie several systems (including kinks, puppeteers, daily schedule, toysystem, influence, loyalty and negotiation) together in the same framework.

And an idea came to mind: What if you could create new vampires during gameplay?

What would you expect of a system like that? Would you like to have a way to control your newly born vampire in the world sandbox just for fun while waiting for new quests to be released? What about companions?

Let us know your thoughts because even though we already have a solid plan, now is the right time to hear your feedback and ideas so we can hopefully grow this system towards a direction that you directly contributed!

I think its a good idea. For the lonely theme at the base of the story, now she need allies. She will still be an independant one, the Ruler but have a companion which she can trust.

Having companions in the sandbox would be great. From my point of view they don't need to be newly born but somehow conquered or otherwise the reward of a quest or something.

I'm a little on the fence about the companion system because it can take away a bit of the idea of being a lonely vampire. Also because it would mean that we need to add their reactions to certain events. But we have some other plans that once we have it better formatted I'll be really, really excited to say.

Well. I can see two ways to handle it. 1: basically combat followers. Make a vampire underling that can follow you into combat. 2: Hidden followers. Start converting townspeople into your vampire coven. As you do so, you start having a growin influence in towns, better deals, on gear , more 'respect'. more ways to influence and area, maybe crime goes down as everyone quietly converts to Kalyskah worship, etc. No direct effect for the player, but subtly affecting the balance of the world.

I'll second that!

It sounds Fantastic. In many games you are the boss but you dont have any control, only in cutsecenes. Would they have some kind of progress(Level up, perks for doing task)?

I like the idea... but... are you thinking about developing the story of James as a fledging vampire too? That part of the game already had a hint of vampire creation....

Yes! The relationship between Kalyskah and James is one of the core things planned for the game after the quest with akrasiel is done

I would prefer that you concentrate heavily on bringing content - quests, especially repeatable quests - into the Game before thinking about adding features. Don't follow the path of wild life who completely lost the track with its focus on sandboxes

Quests are added by me, the writer and the animator. While the programmer is handling the basic mechanics of the game and polishing what we already have. Right now our game don't have much on the side of modular content and having our programmer working on this as he restructures how our NPCa work is the best timing.

Sounds good, like Anthony mentioned earlier, I like the idea of assigning them tasks as well, such as resources, wealth information gathering, probably get them to assist you in battle, plus how about the option to invite them to the play room or Kalyskah's personal quarters for 'relaxation'.

Ghouls And Vampires, YES please!!! Just put there some story content to make it more personal, not only no name npcs. A lesser number of possible characters available for turning with their own story and role before turning is much better than a large number of no name vampires. Bloodlines made it perfectly with the ghoul girl. :)

Are we talking about pregnancy and birth? Cause tbh I'd love to be able to customize how her baby or babies would look as they grow or what not, or if it's just "bite and vamp" then that would be amazing as well, add new sliders for muscles on different parts of the body, face sliders i.e. jaw, head, cheeks, lips, etc would be amazing to see, idk if it's just me but when you have full control over character customization to make the Character look like you or your ideal character it adds a level of personality most games don't have

She is dead :D the only possible way of reproduction should be "drink my blood" or something. Pregnant vampire is for me a big NO tbh.

That would be a neat way to add companions to the game. Like the thralls in Conan exiles but instead of enslaving them you you turn them into vampire minions.

Yes, best idea makes the game interesting as the dev team continues to progress the game, and removes the risk of player base dropping.

Having your own vampire spawn would be awesome. Especially if you can assign them tasks that come complete with their own schedule and assigned (assumingly by the system) room.

It's more or less towards that path that we are aiming for. Because something that this story is about, other than a possible redemption and vengeance, is Kalyskah rebuilding her legion after her slumber. So this system would be us adding a sandbox way to complete it instead of just a linear path.

yes plz much cool
