(Update) Instant Pie Menu - Beta V6.1
Hello everybody!
DId you click it too? :D
*Snickers*
In the battle of interdependent bug queens:
"Automation Creep"
Vs
"Theres a old cache on my baby!"
The container of liquid hydrogen won.
The solution was to PAUSE the game, similar to what happened last week when we moved passive caching to pause mode to let the Sims free think while roaming. Because sim's automation is running on python and thats single threaded and it should not get blocked by IPM's caching effectively cancelling your sim's actions.
So the only solution for this is to have IPM work passively while the menu is open and the game is paused.
The point is not to make IPM only work on pause but until i figure out a solution this is the best we got and we will just have to live with the limitations of having the game pause when the menu is open automatically. Don't be sad while the game is paused you can enjoy playing The Sims 4 without time passing by while you navigate your web of modded sim menu trees.
This also explains why members of the inner circle that use the auto-pause mods report bugs a lot less. Especially those who were using v4 i think with auto-pause instead of Smarter Pie menu were suprised how well it worked and others reported Automation creeps where Sims would do nothing forever.

WHAT DOES INSTANT PIE MENU DO?
original post:
https://www.patreon.com/posts/172545716?utm_campaign=postshare_creator&utm_content=v6_redirect
Commands:
ipm.cache off - turns off ipm if you hate it
ipm.preloader off - turns off progress bar
ipm.preloader debug- keeps it open forever
IPM COMPATABILITY LIST I TESTED WITH:
+ Modsby's Queue-menu (Free Release on 1st of Nov 2026)
Beta: https://www.patreon.com/Modsby/posts/queue-multiple-4-171226825
+ Smarter Pie Menu by TwistedMexi (aka search): Yes
+ Lots of other pie menu graphical mods
NOT COMPATIBLE:
- Modsby's Dropdown menu
Troubleshooting:
If you see something not working and ALT+CLICK does not work.
type command ipm.cache off - that will turn off Ipm and you can continue using native and let me know so i can fix :)
If you dont see a preloader try command CTRL+SHIFT+C: ipm.preloader debug
and it will stay visible. If its not visible usually means that it has finished or there is nothing to show. It still works if you cant see it while paused.
Known issues: It might take a while for it to switch from "...loading" to item count this is expected, IPM is still working but the database is getting ready for new venue, the timing will go down in the future. Spotted when switching households or traveling, but the real reason is that your HOUSEHOLD SIM MUST BE ON THE PROPERTY for IPM to work. It does not do caching while youre on the streets - too much junk data there. You still get doubleclick cache
Inside the property It should start looking like this:
Hello my inner circle! Thanks for sticking around. Basically the plan is this: if this version survives the weekend without incidents. I'm merging this with Dropdown Menu (i already started integration of IPM + MDM then that can come out on Halloween, and if it all goes smoothly and i get dark mode in mdm by halloween as well.
If you are the first to comment, please let me know it worked

Than you so much for all you’re hard work! Today I just downloaded your 6.1 version and tried with auto pause off and I fine my game interactions have loaded way faster and not as much lag in the game, I have a crazy amount of mods and cc too
testing info: I’m using IPM v6.1 + tmex's searchable pie menu. my game is fully up to date until the most recent update on Oct 27th, i am now playing offline to avoid this update, i have a 236GB mods folder but most of that is CAS and furniture cc, i do have a lot of mods adding social interactions however so my normal pie menu load when clicking on sims can be around 10 secs. i think this mod is causing the issue of being unable to click on the floor inside/ground outside. it’s either impossible to do or it takes a million clicks to get the pie menu to pop up and it only pops up once in a while (there's no consistent number of clicks to get it to work). it's specifically the ground that's an issue, because if i click on a rug, the pie menu pops up immediately. but clicking on the bare ground outside or the bare floor inside any room does nothing 9/10 times. i just have to keep clicking it and hope i don’t accidentally click off the menu when it finally appears. it's gotten to the point where instead of being able to tell a sim to "go here", i have to click a nearby object for them to interact with and then cancel the action once the get over there. the menu not refreshing between clicks is also happening again, and it's making the whole interviewing patients aspect of the apothecary career very difficult since the pie menu on the patients fails to update with new options as the appointment progresses. it also causes issues with other mods where new interactions are unlocked as old ones have played out, like Lumpinou's RPO socials. the previous workaround of double-clicking/closing and reopening the menu to refresh it also isn’t working now either. i can reopen the pie menu 5-6 times in a row and it wont update at all. sometimes switching to another sim and switching back helps, but a lot of the time it doesn't. i really wanted a solution to my pie menu lag issue with social interactions but i'm having to weigh it against the issues caused by this mod as they (particularly the outdated pie menu interactions glitch) are really interfering with gameplay. the benefit of having an instant pie menu is, in some situations, almost nullified by that menu being filled with outdated interactions. perhaps there's a happy middle ground where the pie menu isn't quite instant, but still much faster than usual, while still being able to update itself with new interactions as necessary. i noticed that the IPM functions for ALL pie menus (objects too, not just sims). perhaps the scope could be narrowed down to just sims' pie menus? maybe this would reduce strain on the mod and allow it to load/cache or whatever better. idk if that would help at all I’m just trying to give suggestions bc i really want this mod to be a thing
Amazing feedback, I have fixed some of the issues and will release soon! Hope you test 6.2 too once it's out! I'll message you! Thank you
I'm on v6.1 and it's running very smoothly for me. Using it with the searchable pie menu makes finding the interaction you want so much quicker. :)
Hi! This is a long one! First time commenting since joining. I’m using v6.1, and overall it’s working great in-game. IMO, the responsiveness is a huge improvement over v5. (I havent played in a few weeks until yesterday so i didn’t use v6) I do notice a little lag after clicking an interaction, though. Occasionally, it takes about a second for the interaction to queue up. But that doesn’t bother me much. For reference, my setup far exceeds the specs needed to run The Sims 4 at max settings. I have all expansions, all game packs, a handful of kits, and around 70 GB of mods (mostly Build/Buy and CAS). Even before this mod, my lag was minor, no more than 4 seconds when clicking on a computer, 2-3 max when clicking on a sim. I did, however, run into a forever-saving screen after installing v6.1. I rarely experience saving freezes. I did not do the Oct 27 ea update. I wanted to mention it here only because I noticed the IPM cache was still loading in the upper-right corner while the game was saving. Is there any chance of a correlation between the IPM cache still processing and the game getting stuck on the saving screen? I did have auto-pause turned off, which I see isn’t recommended, so it might very well just be user error on my part lol.
First of all thank you so much! I will give this a try, if it's true on the forever save then I can recreate and therefor fix it.
Hey Modsby, 6.1 has been working really well for me, still getting a little used to the menu pausing, i like it but just not quite used to it yet! I have noticed that clicking on the ground sometimes either won't load at all or its taking so long to load that I'm going to alt+click it. which results in me pretty much having to alt+click the ground most of the time because just clicking on it is so unreliable. I am running a lot of mods + have a pretty big lot with a lot of items. Wanted to report just in case though.
Hey yes, I have made a fix for it. Just testing everything out, maybe there will be an update tonight / tomorrow with 6.2 with those issues fixed. Also try disabling auto pause in settings
Hi! Just wanted to let you know that the double-click issue to refresh the pie menu is back. It doesn't happen all the time, and so far it takes a little while to show up during gameplay :o
hello! i just wanted to come and say how genuinely game changing this mod is for me. i nearly gave up on the sims franchise (specifically 4 after having trouble with 3) but this has singlehandedly fixed my game. this update specifically is working WONDERS. i haven't seen any issues really, especially not ones others are describing. however i have noticed a slight delay in sims actually completing the action once clicked on in the pie menu; i'm unsure if this is because of other mods or this one, but i thought i would mention it regardless. i will also say that the auto-pause feature isn't great, but i really appreciate the option to turn it off, and it works swimmingly without it. again, thank you so much for making this mod, this is truly THE most game changing mod ever released, by far.
Hi! Hope all is well! Came to drop my review as well after testing for a few hours. Honestly, love the mod. Helps so much with my initial issue of there being a five second pause between pie menus without the mod. But unfortunately, like most things, nothing is perfect! The most bothersome issue is the clicking and having to wait or click multiple times for options to display correctly. Or after introducing yourself to a sim, the double clicks it takes for the actions to appear correctly. Or waiting for the pie menu to update after performing an action. It's playable, but after a while, I end up getting off. Kudos to you though! This is a great mod, with some more feedback and nit-picks, I'm sure it'll reach its full potential! Thank you so much for taking time out of your life to make and continue to micromanage this for the Sims community! It's greatly appreciated!
Oh! I forgot, I'm still not able to click on the ground. I was a fan of the v5 as well. But this version runs similarly, with the same "complaints" for me. If the pie menu would display correctly as needed, without all the clicks, everything else would honestly be miniscule.
OK, I’m back. And I had a chance to test out 6.1 and unfortunately the news is not good 😅. if I’m honest, I really don’t like it. It has several issues as far as I’m concerned.. like the constant pausing every time I click on something it glitches my game out so much that it causes the Sims to reset a few minutes after me clicking something. Also, I don’t know what it is, but it seems to be causing a major lag with the Sims just standing around and looking into space. My Sim just stood there for about two hours, not moving so I don’t know what’s going on. So I took 6.1 out and put V5 in and once I put it in, it was so much better. I love the older version of your mod so much more so I’m gonna keep it for now until I don’t know either. You update this version and do something different? . I don’t know 🤷♀️ I don’t know how to tell you to fix it, but I really don’t like it.. what can you do to fix this because this has become an essential mod for me now?
testing 6.1 now. As of now, so far so good. I turned the auto-pausing off--no complaints as of now. Seems like the mod had to "warm-up" a bit. I am going to continue to test it more, but I am liking it so far. Thank you!
It works best went the preloader goes Amber/Blue, usually you can see it if you run command 'ipm.preloader debug' - that's what I do. Yea the warmup should happen ad least once and database ideally will pick up next game where it left off so after continues games hopefully it will just become background noise and will run smoothly (fingers crossed) again, thank you so much for testing
Hey, so far Im sorry to say I don’t like this version. It’s constantly pausing, pausing, pausing, pausing to the point. It’s glitching my game out and even after I pull up all the pie menu interactions it will sometime reset my whole household. Is there anyway for me to turn off that interaction where it pauses everything? even when I click on the ground or click on just regular stuff, it will pause my game.?
Oh sorry I just read the comments. Thank you so much for updating. I will test it out and get back to you. I didn’t realize this was an update.
ive only been testing this version for about half an hour but so far mostly works great only thing i have noticed so far is i cant click on the ground unless i shift click
Ya, sorry for that. I fixed that in the patch, you should get a in 5 hours or so
this one has been the best one so far. the interactions went much more smoother than before. i did noticed a bit of a delay aftert the pie menu closes, just like another comment said, so idk if its bc of mods or still some lag (theres no delay when interacting with dogs for example). i also couldnt use it with the queue menu, the menu kept closing idk why
I'll send you a working ipm+ q mod pair, someone else mentioned that their queue mod was not the latest version
Hi, i am sorry but this version completely bugged my household. The version before was almost perfection. But this version is really not good. My sims stand in idle and so much lag. Also they don't interact with other sims in same household. No interactions showing up at all. So I took it and then my game was fine again.
Thank you for your feedback! I'm looking into this and should be fixed in 6.1 sometime today. I will let you know
I feel like both v 4 and v 5 ran better for me than 6. It's like severely making my game lag now with interactions.
Same here.
It works! But I will say there is a delay for the game to resume when the pie menu closes after selecting a interaction. I don’t know if it’s me and my big mods folder but there’s that one tidbit.
