Los Santos Alive — Simulation 2.0 Update Available Now For Supporters

Simulation 2.0

This update represents the largest evolution of Los Santos Alive to date.

Simulation 2.0 is the culmination of nearly a month of work reimagining how people exist within Los Santos. Almost every core system has been redesigned, fundamentally changing how people perceive the world, make decisions, react to their surroundings, and interact with one another.

Rather than simply introducing new features, Simulation 2.0 establishes a shared simulation where every person operates through the same contextual foundation. The player is no longer the centre of the world—everyone experiences the same living simulation, building their own understanding from what they see, hear, and experience.

Simulation 2.0 represents one of the largest architectural changes Los Santos Alive has ever undergone. As a result, there will inevitably be some issues and rough edges during the initial release while the new systems continue to mature.

Over the coming week I'll be releasing regular updates to address bugs, improve reliability and continue refining the simulation. If you encounter any issues or have suggestions, your feedback is incredibly valuable and will help shape future updates.

This update is currently available exclusively to Patreon supporters.

Simulation 2.0

Shared World Simulation

At the heart of this update is Context 2.0, a complete redesign of the systems responsible for how every person understands the world around them.

For the first time, the player and NPCs operate through the same contextual foundation. People no longer exist simply to react to the player—they exist as individuals with their own understanding of the world, capable of making decisions based on what they perceive rather than hidden game knowledge.

Simulation 2.0 introduces:

  • A completely redesigned contextual awareness system.

  • Shared world simulation across players and NPCs.

  • Perceived personas, allowing people to judge others by appearance rather than predefined identities.

  • Richer understanding of locations, people, vehicles and ongoing situations.

  • More natural conversations, behaviours and decision making.

  • A significantly expanded foundation for future simulation systems.

The result is a city where people exist within the same world rather than around the player.

Intent-Driven Activities

People now travel with purpose.

Simulation 2.0 introduces an entirely new activity system built around intent rather than destinations. Instead of simply travelling to locations they are instructed to visit, people now decide where to go based on what they actually want to do.

Whether grabbing a coffee before work, picking up groceries after a long day, buying ammunition, stopping for breakfast or visiting a convenience store, destinations are now chosen because they make sense for the individual.

The initial release introduces:

  • Over 80 unique locations.

  • More than 600 handcrafted activity points.

  • Intelligent destination inference.

  • Context-aware location selection.

  • Public and restricted area awareness.

People understand that a police station isn't the same as a coffee shop, that employee areas aren't open to the public, and that different locations serve different purposes. Whether someone chooses to respect those boundaries, however, depends entirely on the individual.

The system has been designed to continually expand as Los Santos Alive grows.

Expanded NPC-to-NPC Interactions

Simulation 2.0 dramatically expands interactions between people throughout Los Santos, bringing NPC-to-NPC encounters significantly closer to feature parity with player interactions.

People are no longer limited to simple conversations. NPCs can now naturally perform many of the same contextual actions on one another that were previously reserved for player interactions, allowing encounters to evolve far more dynamically.

Whether following somebody through the city, initiating conversations, making threats, committing robberies, conducting police investigations, performing searches or carrying out other contextual actions, people can now interact with one another through the same shared simulation powering the rest of Los Santos Alive.

As more systems move onto the shared Simulation 2.0 architecture, the distinction between player and NPC interactions continues to disappear, creating a world where everyone participates under the same rules rather than around the player.

Human Instinct System

People don't always stop to think before they react.

Simulation 2.0 introduces the Human Instinct System, allowing people to instinctively respond to unexpected situations before conversation or deliberate reasoning ever begins.

People now naturally react to:

  • Threats.

  • Nearby violence.

  • Vehicle collisions.

  • Physical confrontations.

  • Dangerous situations.

  • Pranks.

  • Unexpected world events.

These instinctive reactions don't simply play an animation and end there.

Moments later, people may acknowledge what happened, change their behaviour, abandon what they were doing, or carry those experiences into an evolving conversation.

Rather than existing separately from the conversational AI, instinct becomes another part of how people understand and respond to the world.

Audio

NPC speech is now significantly more immersive through a complete overhaul of the spatial audio system, delivering more believable positioning, improved directionality, smoother distance falloff and a far more natural listening experience.

LSPDFR Integration

Simulation 2.0 introduces seamless native support for LSPDFR, allowing officers to move naturally between everyday life and law enforcement without leaving the shared simulation behind.

Whether you're grabbing a coffee before a shift, patrolling the streets, or conducting a traffic stop, every interaction is powered by the same contextual systems driving the rest of Los Santos Alive. There is no separation between "Story mode" and "LSPDFR mode". THe world continues seamlessly around you.

Officers understand their responsibilities, surroundings and ongoing situations, allowing conversations and behaviour to naturally adapt as you transition between off-duty and on-duty gameplay.

Simulation 2.0 lays the foundation for Los Santos Alive to integrate naturally with the wider GTA V modding ecosystem, allowing future integrations to become part of the same living simulation rather than isolated gameplay systems.

We’re excited to share more on that front soon.

Policing Redefined Integration

Simulation 2.0 introduces seamless integration with Policing Redefined, transforming police encounters from isolated interactions into evolving investigations driven entirely through natural conversation.

Dynamic Investigations

Officers are now capable of naturally progressing an encounter based on the information available to them, rather than following a predefined sequence of actions.

Investigations may now include:

  • Traffic stops.

  • Identification requests.

  • Driver's licence verification.

  • Firearm permit verification.

  • Hunting licence verification.

  • Fishing licence verification.

  • Pat downs.

  • Full searches.

  • Breathalyser tests.

  • Roadside drug swabs.

  • Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus tests.

  • Walk and Turn tests.

  • One Leg Stand tests.

  • Arrests.

  • Requests for police backup.

Each decision is made within the context of the encounter, allowing investigations to evolve naturally as new information is uncovered.

Not all actions will be immediately available to NPC officers too, however over the coming weeks we will move closer to NPC-Player parity in Policing Redefined.

Traffic Stops

Traffic stops now unfold through natural conversation.

Ask your AI partner to identify and follow a suspect vehicle before initiating a traffic stop using conversational language such as "pull over that car" or "stop the red SUV."

Rather than relying on rigid commands, officers understand natural references to vehicles and continue the encounter as the situation develops.

Policing Redefined Context

Officers now possess a significantly deeper understanding of the people they interact with throughout an investigation.

As encounters progress they naturally build knowledge from the evidence they uncover, including:

  • Probation status.

  • Current impairment.

  • Documentation and permits.

  • Legal possessions.

  • Suspicious possessions.

  • Illegal possessions.

  • Weapons.

  • Narcotics.

  • Previously discovered evidence.

  • Arrest status.

Contextual Impairment

Every supported intoxicant is represented through its own contextual behavioural profile.

Rather than simply recognising whether somebody is "under the influence," Los Santos Alive understand the unique signs and characteristics associated with different forms of impairment, allowing roadside investigations and conversations to better reflect the circumstances presented to them.

Breathalyser results, drug tests, observed behaviour and other evidence all become part of the wider investigation rather than existing as isolated gameplay mechanics.

Shared Investigation Context

Simulation 2.0 allows investigations to persist naturally throughout an encounter.

People remember what has already happened.

Officers remember what they have discovered.

Conversations evolve as new evidence is uncovered.

Expanded Uniform Recognition

Simulation 2.0 dramatically expands how people identify one another through seamless EUP integration.

Rather than recognising hidden game information, people now judge others by what they actually see.

NPCs can recognise:

  • Law enforcement agencies.

  • Officer ranks.

  • Patrol and specialist units.

  • Uniforms.

  • Equipment.

  • Operational responsibilities.

This allows conversations and behaviour to naturally adapt depending on who someone appears to be.

A Blaine County Sheriff's deputy may be treated differently from a Highway Patrol officer. A detective may receive a different response than a uniformed patrol officer. Tactical officers, motorcycle units, gang units and undercover officers all become recognisable (or not) through their appearance.

By grounding identity in visual perception instead of hidden metadata, every encounter becomes more believable and significantly more dynamic.

Additional Improvements

Simulation 2.0 also introduces a wide range of quality-of-life improvements, gameplay enhancements, and refinements across the entire project.

NPC Interaction Improvements

Interacting with people in busy environments is now significantly easier.

A new Marked Ped system allows you to designate an NPC and communicate exclusively with them using a dedicated interaction key, making conversations far more reliable in crowds, traffic stops, and large gatherings.

Natural language understanding has also been expanded across conversations, allowing NPCs to better understand references to nearby people, vehicles, destinations and locations without requiring specific phrasing.

Radio Awareness

NPCs now possess a much deeper understanding of the music playing throughout Los Santos.

Radio awareness has been significantly expanded with over 100 additional hand-crafted songs, allowing conversations to naturally reference:

  • Artists.

  • Genres.

  • Musical mood.

  • Atmosphere.

  • The overall feeling a song conveys.

Whether somebody is relaxing to classic rock, listening to hip-hop on the drive home or commenting on an emotional soundtrack playing nearby, music now forms a much more natural part of conversation.

Expanded Actions

Simulation 2.0 continues to expand the range of actions available through natural conversation.

People can now more naturally navigate the world, perform contextual actions, interact with one another and transition between complex behaviours without actions competing against one another.

The underlying action system has been extensively redesigned, allowing future behaviours to be added far more naturally as Los Santos Alive continues to grow.

Reliability & Optimisation

Simulation 2.0 also includes one of the largest reliability and optimisation passes since Los Santos Alive began.

Significant improvements have been made across conversations, navigation, world interactions and behavioural systems, resulting in a substantially more reliable experience throughout everyday gameplay.

Highlights include:

  • Improved overall simulation performance.

  • Reduced hitching during gameplay.

  • More reliable NPC conversations.

  • Improved action execution.

  • Improved navigation and pathfinding.

  • Improved behavioural consistency across complex situations.

  • Improved vehicle transitions.

  • Hundreds of fixes across conversations, contextual reasoning and world interactions.

As with every major Los Santos Alive update, countless smaller fixes and refinements have also been made throughout the project.

Within the initial release however, expect some issues which will be ironed out.

Looking Ahead

Simulation 2.0 represents a fundamental milestone for Los Santos Alive, but it is only the beginning.

The new shared simulation architecture established by this update lays the groundwork for significantly deeper systems in the future, including richer social behaviours, more advanced investigations, expanded emergent gameplay, improved persistence, larger world interactions and entirely new forms of AI-driven experiences.

Every improvement introduced in Simulation 2.0 has been designed not only to enhance today's gameplay, but to provide a foundation for everything that comes next.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Los Santos Alive throughout its development.

Hi, I get error when loading the plugin

D
Dotconnector · August 1, 2026

I also think a version number of v0.5 combined with a term like "Simulation 2.0 update" is a bit confusing. Hope that's useful feedback regardless

Should LSPDFR run with the mod in the background? I'd assume yes as I thought LSPDFR is an absolute must to run the mod, but on Nexus, where an earlier version can be downloaded, information specific to ENHANCED is mentioned. And it says to delete the "lspdfr" folder and its LSPDs 2 files in "plugins" (which is the exact opposite and suggests that just RPH is used). Are there any user configurable settings, like can "NPC hostility"/NPC attitudes be adjusted by the player?

Dotconnector · August 1, 2026

- some info about the shell window that pops up, ideally in that very window ;) Like 1.) that the user's firewall will ask whether to "trust" your app, that the window can be disregarded but needs to be left open, that in cases X and Y it can contain useful info for debugging etc. - it is somewhat clear that the main idea is that the player uses a microphone - as it seems it's probably the #1 interaction channel with the NPCs, and prob more "impactful" than the player's avatar, its movements, clothing or gestures (like pulling a gun) alone. Like that Gemini's "language model" is at play, why voice operation is crucial etc ;) It's unclear if the mod will cease to do anything without voice input or not.

The version that's downloadable here - is that supposed to be used with latest Legacy or latest Enhanced version? Or both? I think this should be mentioned somewhere. Also some crucial info I'm missing, includes: - settings for RagePluginHook / recommended version(s) to use with Legacy/Enhanced, like should LSA be set to auto load on launch

In addition to my previous comment (again), I have noticed that only modded police officers are not recognized as officers. I have tried to call LSPD and BCSO backup (BCSO from the RDE expansion). LSPD Officers are aware that they are cops, while BCSO officers are not. It would be nice to see RDE support in the future

D
Dotconnector · August 1, 2026

Well, these sound like pretty severe issues, but it also kind of sounds like you were using lots of mods alongside this (possibly RDE?) which you should probably mention. And of course, if you haven't already you should test/confirm if what you reported is still accurate when you just run the most "minimal" setup

To addition to my previous comment. I have called a police code 2 backup just now, the cops arrived and when I am talking with them they are first of all scared that I am holding an invisible gun and asking me to put that gun down when my hands are completely free, and second of all they are denying the fact that they are cops. Man this should be fixed at first I think, it's impossible to play like that. I appreciate your work tho, when playing outside LSPDFR the peds are pretty smart. The only problem is that you can easily make them believe in strange things. I have approached a ped and asked him "Do you see that tow truck"? He replied yes. There were no tow trucks at all. Then I asked if he sees an ambulance right next to the tow truck, he also replied yes. I asked him to sit inside the tow truck, he replied alright and just continued to stand still. I don't think if that's fixable at all but would be nice if so. Like in NCAI, I don't remember the exact name of that modification, but really similar to yours. There people can recognize things around them,

There's a long way to go for this mod. But I believe someday it will become the best ai mod available. But now I would like to report a few bugs when playing with LSPDFR and Policing Redefined. The first bug is very annoying, when I call the paramedics using the backup menu. They arrive, but when I try to talk with them they are claiming they are not doctors at all. The second bug is when a ped is commiting a crime, like a store robbery, he doesn't even remember that. I arrested such a ped once, and he told me that he's not a robber and doesn't even understand what I am talking about. Also, heavily injured peds are denying that they are hurt when I try to talk with them, like I shot they guy 2 times and asking him is he alright and he just answers yeah everything is fine. Oh, and one more. For some reason all peds I try to communicate with think that I am holding a weapon in my hands when I don't. I have stopped a ped, asking him for ID and he answers that I should stop aiming at him. Annoying as well, because I don't even have a weapon equipped. I understand, this mod needs time, but I should have reported these bugs because they are critical for me

Can I set it to Spanish? Also, sometimes the NPCs stop replying, like the Gemini line went down

L
Los Santos Alive · June 29, 2026

Going to investigate that issue, and yep, you can set it to spanish, if you go into the promp and tell NPCs to use spanish instead, if you'd like me to do that for you I wouldn't mind too

m

so i dont need to do anything with it???

L
Los Santos Alive · June 27, 2026

Yep, you don't have to do anything with it

m
michael allen · June 27, 2026

when i start the command prmt comes up is there a reason for that????

L
Los Santos Alive · June 27, 2026

Yep. That is the node server, basically its a bridge, half the mod handles the gameplay, half the mod handles the gemini architecture This prompt doesn't need to be shown but I chose to keep it as showing as it shows useful information for debugging while we still are working out issues, and can help turnover on fixing bugs the community has.
