Update v1.1 for Litoff is now available! [Changelog]
This one changes how flying actually feels, so I want to walk through it properly.
Flight is no longer free. There's now a flight battery: it drains while you're in the air and refills whenever you're on the ground. Run it flat and the mod doesn't just cut power on you — it starts a controlled landing instead. Try to lift off on an empty battery and it simply refuses. Flight time and recharge time are both adjustable, and if you don't want any of it, the whole system can be switched off.
Damage now matters. A wrecked car flies like a wrecked car: less thrust and lift, sloppy attitude control, and it sags in the air because it can no longer cancel gravity cleanly. It also burns through the battery faster and starts sputtering once it's badly hurt. Reset or repair the vehicle and everything clears. Thresholds are adjustable, and this can be turned off too.
Don't want to manage any of that? New Arcade / Consequences switch. One click on Arcade strips out the battery and the damage penalty together — unlimited flight, nothing to think about.
Handling rework. Steering and pitch now lose authority as speed rises, so fast flight feels heavy and deliberate instead of twitchy. The view angle widens with speed while airborne and snaps back exactly as it was on landing or when you switch vehicles. Default performance is up across the board: more thrust, less drag, higher top speed.
Bug fix worth explaining. The handbrake is now released while flying. The climb key doubles as the handbrake, so holding it kept the wheels locked for the entire flight — which left automatic gearboxes stuck in first gear and dropped you onto skidding tyres every landing.
Also new: an Energy tab in the UI app, plus a battery bar and damage readout on the instrument panel.
