THIS WILL BE A HUUUUGE ONE...

After having already created two completely fictional tracks, I wanted to try recreating a real-world area as faithfully as possible. For this, I chose my hometown: Buchholz in the Lüneburg Heath (Lower Saxony, Germany).

Typically, the landscape in Lower Saxony is flat and sparsely wooded, which would be pretty boring...

Buchholz, however, literally grew out of a forest—hence the name (which literally means "beechwood").

The Lüneburg Heath is characterized not only by its blooming heathlands but also by its terrain, which is very hilly by Northern German standards.

The map will feature as many local landmarks as possible. These include, for example, the Brunsberg (technically a hill, but at 129 meters, the highest point in Northern Germany), the "Teufelsschlucht" or "Devil's Gorge" (a name also chosen with a wink lol), and the "3-Männer-Eiche" (Three Men's Oak)—the spot where serial killer Thomas Holst left one of his victims 30 years ago.

The map will include a very interesting country road that, unfortunately, isn't covered by Street View (right to the Three Men's Oak). There will also be a long off-road course running through the forest and over the Brunsberg itself. The total drivable route will be approximately 30 km.

Since Buchholz is located just south of Hamburg, I am proud and honored that this map is set to become part of the upcoming southern expansion for the HAMBURG/DENMARK map by 4R. Even if it still lies in the future, I will do my best to bring this beautiful region to life for you virtually in Assetto Corsa.

I plan to revisit many of these locations in person to study them closely. I will post some photos of them here so you can get a feel of the whole area/map.
