Symmetry Tests
If you've been following my Lens, you've seen these tests already... but here's all my test footage in one convenient and more permanent video!
Also I added an old piano improvisation for music, which makes my test seem MUCH fancier.
Now I can get back to storyboarding, knowing what's possible for these shots. Then back to the script next week, then probably two weeks for producing and editing. Oh and there's some music stuff to get done in there somewhere. But I think I can have it out in April!
Also obviously I need to do a video about the 14 types of spherical symmetry group... that'll be easier. Maybe a project for early May?
Anyway, folks around here seem to like the ambitious projects that take a little longer, so I'm glad to be able to do another takes-more-than-two-weeks project so soon. Luckily, unlike Triple Piano, the difficult parts that are left are more on the creative side and less about software wrangling, especially now that I've got a workflow for symmetry!
(There's still a few production details to iron out---quite literally... my green screen has creases. But I'm feeling pretty good about it in general.)
Hope you enjoy the symmetry of this test! Don't forget to try it in VR, if you can.

P.S. Probably should mention: latest version of the Ricoh Theta has twice the resolution compared to the model I have (Henry has one we used for Triple Piano when he was in town), there's one on my amazon wishlist: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3OMEH1TFZLJVI?type=wishlist&filter=unpurchased&sort=priority

I think this counts as embodied math, right? "Ok, I started the list: http://vihart.com/embodied-math/ Someone remind me to keep adding things to it if I forget!" Citation: something Vi wrote on her personal website. Here's that reminder to keep the list up!
Aha, yes it does! As does human geometry in general.
Neat how larger stuctures form from the tiny little Vis, and mine eye insists they are what I should see. Suspecting someone planned that effect, mind you.
Oh you know. Maybe they planned that ;]
I love the clip of the butterfly on your hand and I'm rather sad that's going to disappear in a day.
I see the VR Camera is no longer on the wish list. I hope this means that someone got it for you and not that you gave up. Do you still need the camera?
Oh hooray, looks like someone got it! :D
"folks around here seem to like the ambitious projects" Honestly, I like them all. Obviously the ambitious ones have more interest to them when they are done, but I don't want you to think that the simpler stuff is not also desired. That said, you do you, whether that is ambitious and time consuming or comparatively simple (I know none of it is objectionably simple/easy).
The Lens content needs to have a feedback mechanism so that I can express my excitement with your ideas 😊 So M. C. Escher
Just wanted to say I really really enjoy your Lens content!
LOL! Those green screen creases are the worst.
