PROGRESS REPORT #149

Hello everyone, welcome to the 149th progress report!

Here's a picture of Alice reading something. What can it be? Today's newspaper? Amelia Earhart's flight logs? One can only guess.

One thing you don't have to guess if how productive I've been. Because I'll tell you right now: very. No roadblock to report, just rendering every day from morning to evening.

Well, actually, the very first day of work was spent implementing the previous 4-parter scene I rendered on the previous progress report. Here's a sample:

And once I was done with that, the Great Rendering began. It's a rather medium-large scene, with slightly more renders than average I would say, which is why it took me the whole dev cycle. It's also a bunch of great renders and for once I don't just say that to toot my own horn. :)

It was paramount (more than usual) to get the lighting just right as there are a lot of closeups on character's faces (and other things), and the scene is overall quite emotional. The lighting needed to reflect that. This even led me to use some lighting techniques I had never used before to make the scene pop even more, and I think I gave it all I've got.

That's all I've done last dev cycle. Next dev cycle I'll work on finishing that previous scene (I only have 3 pretty straightfoward renders to finish which I probably will today), and then I'll immediately follow-up with the next scene, which is the last story scene of the update. The rest is all side-scenes after that.

By the way, I think I'll cut one side-scene from the update to release sooner. That particular scene had a whole bunch of animations in it, and those would have been way too time consuming to produce, considering how long this update has taken already. This particular scene was related to this update the least as well, of all other side-scenes.

Anyway, that's it for me for today, I think. I'm hoping to have started working on side-scenes by the 1st of September. Cheers :)
