[PREVIEW] Kyoto Carbon Credits | Honest Government Ad
[UPDATE] Dear Patrons - as some of you will have read in the news, the Australian Government has announced that it won't use its Kyoto carryover credits to offset its emission targets. Whilst it's tempting to think of it as bad timing for us, it's actually perfect because now we get to respond to this bullshit :)
Coz contrary to the welcoming this news - as many of the government's lackies in the media are doing - this isn't something we should be congratulated for: essentially, whilst other nations are announcing bigger emission cuts and lifting their climate game, we are merely promising to stop cheating. Nevertheless, in order to respond to this new development, I had to go back to drawing board and re-write the intro and conclusion for our HGA! Gah. Thankfully, Lucy, Zoë and Ellen are absolute troopers and they cancelled their plans so we could re-shoot the new parts. (This is such an amazing team)
So now I'm about to resume editing; but before I do, I wanted to send you this post so you know we're on top of the developments, and ALSO to send you the updated preview - which you can hear by clicking through!
Scott Morrison will officially announce the news about dropping the credits at this weekend's climate summit. So our HGA should be nicely timed to provide an honest version of this bullshit announcement which he's planning to make to the world.

Here is the preview of our next Honest Government Ad!
We are just in the middle of filming this HGA, but I wanted to make sure you got this preview before Patreon processes the November payments, so y'all know we haven't been slacking off here!
In fact, we've been working hard on a big HGA - probably the biggest one we've made yet. Aye, such is the size of the shitfuckery we're covering in this HGA, that we needed to have both Zoë and Ellen hosting it; as well as time travelling sequences and costume changes. (All will be revealed when you listen to the preview).
I was planning to make this HGA about Australia's Kyoto carbon credits at the start of the year... but then a global pandemic happened; and then the US election became our focus.
So I'm stoked to finally be able to cover this topic - a story most people don't know about, in great part because it's so complicated, which makes it a perfect candidate for an HGA.
I see our task here to make this story easier for people to understand; so next time our Government talks about "carryover credits" in the context of our global climate commitments, people will know what this shitfuckery is about.
The video will take me the rest of the week to edit, due to the length. So I am making this preview available to all of our Patrons, that way everyone gets something from us before November is up!

Nicely amended, but as it stands the prick has not actually committed to this action. The last weasel out: "We will only use that carryover, though, to the extent that is required" as reported Nov 19th. I believe that as of this moment, Morrison hasn't even been allowed to speak at the upcoming summit on Dec 12th because he failed to meet the condition that required speakers to present ambitious new commitments.

Will the word "CRINGE" appear when they say it because it sounds a bit like Grinch, which at Christmas will be more noticeable. It's probably nothing and just how it sounds in the Australian accent. No you're not dreaming Peter! Morrison made a statement saying he reckons we'll reach our target (which lets not forget is pissweak and woefully inadequate) without needing to use the credits. But he hasn't ruled out using the credits - which is what every other country has said. As Tim Baxter from the Climate Council said... "Our negotiators have proven incredibly successful in the history of the UNFCC... We play that game like a master. And while the international community is not keen on letting Kyoto credits into Paris, I have full confidence in our negotiators’ ability to squeeze them in"
