Honest Government Ad | Quiet Australians
Dear Patrons!
Here is the latest Honest Government Ad we've produced together thanks to your monthly contributions. And this time I want to say this at the very start: thank you SO much for making it possible for us to do this work.
As you know, most of the videos we make tend to focus on a specific issue - which is great for helping people better understand that issue.
But for this HGA, I really wanted to cover a whole range of issues and show how they fit together. Because sometimes it's important to step back and look at the picture that forms, when we join the dots between the seemingly separate shitfuckery that's unfolding left, right, and centre.
With a few exceptions, most of our media isn't very good at (or interested in) doing this dot-joining exercise. Which unfortunately makes it easy for most people to ignore how our government is sliding towards authoritarianism.
The result is that we're slowly, collectively learning to normalise authoritarian governance: from accepting the prosecution of whitsleblowers and raids on journalists, to threats of outlawing climate protests and boycotts - all packaged in a shiny bullshit PR slogan: "Quiet Australians".
So, I thought we could all do with some honesty from our Government about where we're inevitably headed with all this.
I hope you enjoy it. Although "enjoy" might not be the right word. I hope... it helps to raise awareness. And for those who already see what's happening, I hope it lets you know you're not the only one. Either way - in the respective ways that are available to you - I hope you don't stay quiet.

Obviously you are all for employees having the legal right to whistle blow to the media (and to exercise the same when other avenues have failed) and a big part of me is in resonance with this. What about the argument, though, that exposing GOVERNMENT incompetence and corruption undermines the faith of people (especially young people) in the institution of government?
I think that is a really facile argument
It is a bit rich to link the bush fires to anthropogenic global warming although the ABC would be delighted.

Just a question nothing important : why USD and not AD , when it's (presumably) oz politics ?

Also weird aside, but since when was 'quiet' ever anything associated with Australians, like a on broad cultural level, like come on, our global rep media wise is usually drunk or crocodile fighting survival mad max types.
This is a great summary of all the shitfuckery going on in Australian politics, let's not take a leaf out or Labor's book and be the antithesis of a quiet Australian. Great video guys can't wait for the podcast for this episode.
