Hi Thomas, In my younger years I was on the fence regarding the rapture thing. Everyone around me was completely sold on the rapture, but I could never satisfactorily satisfy myself from scripture. One had to believe multitudes of presuppositions to make scripture teach a rapture. I even had people tell me that I would go to hell if I didn't believe in the rapture. Between John and myself, I believe we have done studies on the false rapture doctrine, covering pretty much every aspect. Also, I discuss it in my book "The Leavening." i wonder just how much percentages their doctrines, that they have to know and believe, before theyre considered saved (according to themselves) ?? how can anyone tally these things? they probably didnt think about that, unfortunately. i call these plotholes. (WILL THERE BE A HIGH-SCORE?) also the rapture idea seems to be very common now, in movies/tv series. a way to frame the future, and re-define the bible itself too (assuming they read it). some variations like rapturebecauseof timetravel, rapturebecauseof aliens, rapturebecauseof global disasters, rapturebecauseof science experiment gone wrong, rapturebecauseof super-dimensional-ultra-beings who are trying to get humans out of human-evil-spirit-school, wanting to teach them how they should be raising up the "energies" collectively or whatever so we can all evolve in peace n harmony. yet somehow, the hitlers-of-days-past, are in human-purgatory in another layer of reality, holding the planetwide human-archetypal-mega-chakra-overlord back from true enlightenment........................unless we build a global-religion. but yea, essentially saying the same things. which is a good-enough que to nope outta there.

During work today, some of my coworkers got into a conversation about the Bible and Jesus and such. One of them started to go on about the Rapture and the Mark of the Beast and so on and said that people need to make up their minds or go to hell. I found her tone a bit annoying, but it got me thinking of how I would like to be able to better respond to popular doctrines like these. I used to believe in the Rapture, Jews as Chosen People, and Jesus coming back to reign over Israel, and I was familiar with the proof texts that were cited in their support. I no longer believe these things, with much thanks to the 1611 for giving me a solid foundation, but I have forgotten a lot of the pieces of scripture that I revisited in order to give me this new perspective. I know that I have listened to some of Reg’s and John’s videos before on some of these matters, but it would be great to be able to revisit them again perhaps in another way. If anyone has any ideas, I would welcome them. Perhaps we can study the “dispensationalist proof texts” together, since these doctrines have seemed to pique the interest of others as well.
