I Don't Speak German Bonus Episode 1: Punishment Park
I didn't want this to be my official first Patreon-only post for all of you generous people, but Nazi-watching, personal life responsibilities, and the necessity of selling my labor under capitalism got in the way. I will write a more proper introduction post in the next couple of days.
In any case, Jack and I are now releasing monthly (at least!) bonus episodes that will typically revolve around movies or some other piece of pop culture that has relevance to the fascist dystopia that we all turn out to be living in these days. For our first episode, we selected Peter Watkins's 1971 pseudo-documentary Punishment Park, a harrowing look at a slightly off-center world in which young activists against the Vietnam War were tortured in a brutal carceral system (which as it turns out is actually significantly less harsh than the actual prison system in the US today).
I have created a podcast RSS feed and you all should have gotten an email with the link. If there are technical problems with it or with this post let me know. I know I owe many of you responses to the very kind messages you've sent me in the last few weeks. I'm going to do a lot more on this page to engage with those who are kind enough to support me in the work that I do.
Please take care, enjoy the episode, and feel free to message me with suggestions for future episodes or other bonus material.

I'd also love to see you guys make an episode about the connection between fascists and the gaming industry. Or fascism and gamers. Or both. An acquaintance of mine plays VR milsim games and every time he tells me about the people he meets (and the games he encounters), I shiver. Also: GTA! GTA makes fun of everything capitalism and everything fascist, in the little details in the background. Totally worth a mention. At the same time it gathers rightwing extremist elements from all over the globe, for example a European OMG that presents itself as an offshoot of the hammerskins.
The description of the public defender reminds me of the 45th episode of DS9 "Tribunal".
A bit of a late comment, but I'd be absolutely thrilled to listen to many hours of Jack talking about Marxist theory. So you count at least one vote for that idea.
Great episode! Concerning the reading out of names, I'd prefer if you didn't. I always skip it, and I doubt if it is enough of an incentive to greatly increase the patreon numbers. I have absolutely no data to back that up, so don't just take my word for it
Will normal IDSG episodes also show up on this feed, or will I need to maintain two feeds to stay current?
This was excellent and I'm going to have to do the 7-day trial of Fandor to watch it the next time I have enough time to watch a movie in one sitting
Please don't apologize. You're doing great!
