Season TEN!!
Who should we cover in our TENTH year of the podcast? I have an idea for episode 1, but would love to go ahead and get the roster lined up, so I am calling in our top bitches (that's you) to get your input. Let us know in the comments and as it gets closer, we'll likely conduct a poll for our Queen Mothers to cast the final call.
So excited to hear what y'all are looking forward to!
xoxo

Pocahontas! A tragic life that is so so so misrepresented. She needs her story told! <3
Mary Lily Kenan!
Princess Yekaterina Romanovna Dashkov, BFFs w/ Catherine the Great & younger sister to Elizaveta Romanovna Vorontsova (Peter III’s boo thang 😳) I’m very interested in hearing y’alls take on the tea between sisters but mostly, all of her accomplishments.
I want to go back to Ancient Greece, and I second Marie de Guise
Miss Anne Lister would be great to cover during pride month.
Elizabeth Van Lew
I just listened to a brief tiktok about Anne Vavasour. I’ve never heard of her until now and she sounds fascinating!
I'd love love love to see episodes on women like Jackie Kennedy, Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Eleanor of Aquitaine and maybe even Queen Anne. ( and obviously Elizabeth I and Mary I)
They already did Eleanor of Aquitaine
I’d love to see episodes on Anne Neville, Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna of Russia (Queen Victoria’s daughter-in-law, Duchess of Edinburgh and later Duchess of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha), Queen Victoria Eugenie of Spain, and Queen Olga of Greece! I’d also love more episodes on Queen Victoria’s granddaughters and the royal families they married into.
Harriet Tubman!
The Mitford sisters Lady Pamela Hicks, who just recently passed away Queen Mary/ Mary of Teck Have you already done Joanna of Naples? https://longreads.com/2018/07/03/queens-of-infamy-joanna-of-naples/
Gloria Vanderbilt the elder and Gloria Vanderbilt the younger, with a Patreon bonus episode on Gloria senior’s twin sister Thelma who was a Viscountess and briefly married to the richest man in the world at the time, named Marmaduke! Thelma was a mistress to Edward before he met Wallis Simpson. Legend has it that Wallis swooped in when Thelma was away visiting Gloria in New York.
Thelma and Gloria Sr wrote a memoir! I think this is perfect.
Please do Joanna I of Naples! She's perfect material for a Queens' episode. She would probably have to be a two- or three-parter. I would also like to hear you cover some more non-English medieval queens, such as Margaret I of Denmark, Elizabeth-Richeza of Poland, Elizabeth of Poland, Queen of Hungary, Melisende of Jerusalem, Constance I of Sicily, Urraca of Castile-Leon, Berengaria of Castile, Blanche of Castile, and Barbara of Cilli.
Sophia Palaiologina or Eleanor of Castile would be interesting! They are both slightly lesser known queens and there aren’t many podcasts out about them.
Katy Reads has me thinking of some literary queens and the first person that comes to mind is Maya Angelou. She had such a storied, interesting life. Another good one I would maybe be the Bronte Sisters. Dorothy Dandrige would be a fascinating episode too.
Dorthy Dandridge would be a great episode.
Consuelo Vanderbilt/the Dollar Princesses, Mary Adelaide of Cambridge, the Schuyler Sisters, Queen Victoria and her older sister Feodora. I hope you eventually cover Queen Victoria’s children and more of her grandkids. Alexandra Feodorovna’s siblings would be a great place to start.
This is very different than your typical episodes, but you could do an episode on some queens of literacy; the packhorse librarians of Kentucky and the moonlight schools.
I know I'm late to this post but please please please - Countess Constance Markievicz. British aristocrat turned Irish revolutionary Socialist, she became the first female MP in the UK while in prison on death row for fighting in the Easter Rising. Spoiler - her story doesn't end there.
Queen Anne of Great Britain would be a great one. She was the first Queen of Great Britain, hated her stepmother and was probably behind the famous ‘bedpan baby’ rumors, while she suffered the deaths/miscarriages of ALL seventeen of her children. Plus you know, the lesbian stuff.
Please more royal Queens this season. I loved the covering other "queens" but missed the royal aspect on some ✨️
Or, if we can take a detour to South America, these two are fascinating! - “La Quintrala” (Catalina de los Ríos y Lisperguer): Chile’s red-haired, gothic-novel colonial villain, almost an Elizabeth Báthory figure: a rich 17th-century landowner accused of murder, torture, and abuse, who seemed to get away with everything because of her money and connections. - Antonio de Erauso (born Catalina): The Basque “Lieutenant Nun” who escaped a convent, lived as a man, fought as a soldier in colonial Chile and Peru, became a celebrity back in Spain, and somehow got both king and pope to recognize his male identity—but was also deeply implicated in colonial violence.
Matilda of Tuscany — The medieval warrior-countess who inherited vast lands in northern Italy and stood at the center of a power struggle between the pope and the Holy Roman Emperor. Margaret of Austria — Sister of Philip the Handsome, aunt and political guardian of Charles V, and regent of the Netherlands. Her life has everything: dynastic marriage politics, widowhood, Renaissance court culture, and real governing power at the heart of the Habsburg world. Margaret of Parma — Illegitimate daughter of Charles V, half-sister of Philip II, and governor of the Netherlands during the early crisis years of the Dutch Revolt. Another super interesting Hapsburg woman trying to govern between empire, religious conflict, local resistance, and the Spanish crown’s increasing rigidity. Alice Perrers — Edward III’s much younger mistress and Philippa of Hainaut’s lady-in-waiting. She got massively rich and powerful at court, then became infamous through years of accusations of manipulating the aging king. Her story includes a secret marriage, bans, reversals, and decades of legal drama. Matilda of Boulogne — King Stephen’s wife, who is said to have been the brains behind his opposition/strategy against their mutual cousin, Empress Matilda Fredegund and Brunhilde — Someone else mentioned them. This is a +1!
Ooo yes Matilda of Boulogne! I love that one
Another great female pirate to do would be Ching Shih. She’s known by a couple other names, but she was active in the South China Sea and at one point commanded around 300 ships. She’s one of the most successful pirates in history.
Queen Victoria, Mary I, Elizabeth I, Mary of Guise, Isabella of Portugal-Empress consort of Charles V, Catalina Micaela- Duchess of Savoy, Marie de' Medici, Christine of France-Duchess of Savoy
I would love any and all Guise family deep dives!
Henri III of France. Openly Gay Monarch. He was late to his own wedding because he was doing his bride's hair :). Also, Philipe d'Orleans, Louis XIV's openly gay and cross dressing brother.
Gabrielle d'Estrees, mistress of Henri IV of France. She was very influential and died young under suspicious circumstances. Also, Roxelana (Hurrem Sultan), Emperor Suleiman's favorite wife.
They’ve already done Roxelana (or Foxy Roxy as they called her lol). But Gabrielle d’Estrees would be amazing!
Henry Paget the Madfabulous Marquess of Anglesey, I know it's a gentleman, but I think this guy would be right up your alley!
Any dollar Princess, Nancy Wake, or Sophie Scholl.
Second Nancy and Sophie!!
Any of the Firat ladies, supporting Jacqueline Kennedy as the first one. Elizabeth the first or second, Princess Diana, although I understand why some would be hesitant to touch her.....it's still a sore spot for so many and so tragic. Queen Victoria 's daughters/daughter in laws and grand-daughters. Queen Anne. I think it would be fitting thought to finish the Tudor Era with Mary and Elizabeth first though
QUEEN ELIZABETH THE FIRST
This is kind of basic but Mary Tudor (Henry 8ths) sister. She’s so interesting
Mary Rose Tudor Brandon is one of my favorites from that time. She’d be a great episode to do.
Princess Alice (Prince Phillips Mom), Sarah Rector (Oil Millionaire 10 Year old), MADAM C.J. WALKER!!!!!! (First Self Made Female Millionaire), Princess Di!! (My true queen of england), Mary Beaumont (Stage Mom of the Stuart court), There is sm to suggest!
You said you wanted to do a multi episode for Marie Antoinette. That would be awesome. Josephine Bonaparte, Zheng Yi Sao, Anne of Denmark, Catherine I of Russia, Vivienne Westwood, Börte (first wife of Genghis Khan) their daughter and great granddaughter are all pretty incredible women.
Ida B. Wells Mini episodes on the "firsts" of women in Congress - Jeanette Rankin, Margaret Chase Smith, Patsy Mink, etc. Picasso's muses - so many more than just Dora Maar
Sybilla of Jerusalem. Mara Brankovic/ Mara Despina Hatun. Bona Sforza. Agnes of Courtenay. Urraca of Castile and Leon.
I would love to hear one on Sybilla of Jerusalem.
Marguerite of Navarre (Renaissance queen, Anne Boleyn BFF, AND published novelist) and Queen Margot of Valois (Catherine De Medici's daughter who, when her husband cheated, fought fire with fire). I know just enough about both to be hella intrigued, but I've never had time to do deep dives.
Marie of Romania; Louise, Duchess of Argyll (Queen Victoria's daughter); Queen Louise of Sweden; Princess Alice, later Grand Duchess of Hesse and by Rhine
Judy Garland!!!!
Judy! Such an icon, so tragic.
More Stuart queens! I would love Queen Mary II and Queen Anne to be covered.
Anne of France! And then just throwing this out there but I was at the Tower of London in May and saw a little plaque about Alice Tankerville who was imprisoned for piracy in 1534 and was the only female to attempt escape after a guard fell in love with her. Maybe for patreon?
Queen Victoria
Fredegund and Brunhilde!
OMG yes!
Anne of Brittany, Matilda of Tuscany (fascinating lady from medieval times that I feel like no one has heard of but I wish they had because she’s awesome lol). Maybe one of the lesser known Tudor era wives (Jane Parker, Catherine Willoughby, Mary Howard)?
I've just started reading The Unicorn Hunters, a historical fiction/fantasy novel about Anne of Brittany. So far really good!
If I remember correctly, you still haven't covered Elizabeth I yet, right! Though she would definitely be a 3 part episode!
Maybe 4! Childhood drama with Henry alive, teenagehood with Catherine Parr, Thomas Seymour and Mary I, early reign, and late reign. All of those are major topics!
Eleanor of Castile! I just finished Alice Loxton’s book and it was so interesting!
Arbella Stuart (maybe better for Patreon), Mary I, Sisi‘s mother in law Sophie, Alice von Battenberg (Prince Philip‘s mother)
A First Ladies series would be great. Zumurrad Khatun - Regent of Damascus A series on the granddaughters of Queen Victoria (other than Alexandra) Queen Amanirenas of Nubia Queen Nzinga Mbande (Angola) Queen Yaa Asantewaa (Ashanti - Ghana)
Joan of Kent … OG baddie💋🫦
I would love episodes on Princess Diana and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis! Reviews of the two movies about them by Pablo Larrain would also be interesting! :) I’d honestly love to hear your thoughts on historical dramas or movies made about the people you’ve covered.
I’m adding Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon to this list!
Anastasia Romanovna. First wife of Ivan the terrible. You could do a whole series of consorts to the worst kings
I actually have a multi part series on all the wives of Ivan the Terrible on Katy's Corner! But yes, bringing that to the main feed would be fun (?)
Do a wives of emperor qianlong ( qing dynasty) series that would be fun.
Or at least his top 3 wives consorts
Anne Neville, Mary I, Jackie Kennedy, Hatshepsut, Artemesia Gentileschi…so many more😩
Co-sign Jackie Kennedy!!
👑🙌 Anne Vavasour, Matilda of Canossa, Mary Magdalene & "La Malinche"
We have three recs for Matilda of Tuscany/Matilda of Canossa!
philippa of hainault or Caroline Matilda :)
Marie de Guise! Mother of Mary Queen of Scots.
Marie de Guise’s mom Antoinette of Bourbon is also a really fascinating one.
Queen Marie of Romania
Seconded! Her life was fascinating.
