Gh⏐ Stellate ⏐ Grasshopper
By designing our own G-code we can make the machine do exactly what we want, and that's what we have been doing in Series 01 and Series 02. It gave us complete control over the fabrication process. But it is not a fix-all solution. Custom toolpathing cannot completely replace the versatility, speed, and optimization of standard slicers for every type of geometry.
🔑 The key is to understand what tool or method to use when and why.
That's why in this series, I will be providing Grasshopper scripts designed to output solid files that can be exported as a mesh, sliced and printed. Additionally I'll provide visual rendering files (like .blend setups) that you can easily plug into your own personal projects.
For those following Series 02 I want to put together a dedicated video explaining exactly what can be done with that script to help you get the most out of it. However, I am currently into physical prototyping and actively working on the next main YouTube video, so that breakdown might take a week or two to hit the feed.
In the meantime, download the files below, drop the geometries into your standard slicer of choice, and experiment with the Stellate system. Enjoy!
