GCODE 02⏐ PART 04 ⏐ Rhino and Grasshopper
Welcome back to Part 4 of the Growth series! In this video, we optimize our script's performance and we build a pattern generator driven by data lists and vectors.
Here is what we cover in this episode:
Point-Driven Toolpaths: We ditch the heavy physical line segments and switch our system entirely to lightweight point data.
The Pattern Generator: We design the first version of our pattern generator.
Dynamic Z-Height Control: We use a Partition List to group our data back into layers and introduce a Graph Mapper. This allows us to smoothly and dynamically control the strength of our texture from the bottom of the print all the way to the top.
By changing our system from lines to curves, we also took the time to reorganize the script. This cleaner layout was built to make future tweaks and changes much easier to manage.
⏭️ What to Expect Next Now that our base pattern generator is up and running, in the next video, we will upgrade it to unlock new texture combinations. We will also expand the entire system to handle a much wider variety of geometry types, providing more freedom for custom designs.
