GCODE 02⏐ PART 01 ⏐ Rhino and Grasshopper
Welcome to the start of Season 2 of the Growth series! First off, a huge thank you to all of you here on Patreon for your continued support—it’s what makes this deep dive into algorithmic design possible.
This season, we are taking a massive step forward. We are moving beyond simple geometry and diving into systems that literally grow themselves.
📺 In Today's Episode (S2E1): The Sierpinski Curve In our premiere episode, we are leveraging the Sierpinski Curve. To generate our geometry. To do that we use Python components that operates in two phases:
Phase 1: It uses an L-System (Lindenmayer System) to take a single "seed" character and apply strict genetic replacement rules, growing it into a massive text string over several generations.
Phase 2: It interprets that text string as step-by-step geometric commands (Turtle Graphics) to plot a continuous, folding line.
⏭️ What to Expect This Season This episode is just the foundation. Over the next few videos, we are going to push these concepts much further:
New Rule Sets: We are going to explore alternative generation types governed by entirely distinct sets of rules to see what kind of wild organic patterns we can yield.
Toolpath Generation: We aren't just leaving these shapes on the screen. We are going to tackle the mechanics of converting these continuous lines into toolpaths so you can actually print them, and push the limits of what slicers can offer, think of larger overhangs and custom print behaviour.

By the way, I noticed that patreon is having some issues regarding the comment section, I can see some of your comments but I am not able to respond to some due to what seem like technical issues. Please feel free to message me and I will do my best to answer any doubts.
