I’m American (sorry!) and I couldn’t help but compare the two migrant routes. The fash here are scared of brown people from central and South America, and Mexico is considered to be our last exterior wall. The Sahel, of course, is lots of different countries with weak governments compared to Mexico’s fairly strong government. But they’re both at war internally, and I can’t help but wonder if the fash in the northern governments are content that way. Putting a war zone between your white country and the poor POC migrants probably seems good and effective to those monsters.
