Babylon Hit These Fathers & Husbands Different | Babylon - TLOAS: The Encore

Four new Taylor Swift songs. Two hip-hop fans. And one song that made the boys say, "This sounds like Taylor Swift." 🎧

Welcome back to Hazed Reactions!

Less than 48 hours after Taylor Swift released the four Encore songs from The Life of a Showgirl, Rick and Robert sat down with Corrina to experience them. After working through Patient Zero, Cleveland, and Pink Clouding, we finally arrived at Babylon. And something clicked.

This was the first song of the session where the boys felt they were hearing the Taylor Swift songwriting they had come to recognize and expect. The storytelling, the imagery, the layers of meaning, and the way she builds an entire character in just a few verses had them hooked.

And then came the bridge. 👀

🎵 A SONG THAT TELLS AN ENTIRE LIFE STORY

What makes Babylon so compelling? It's the way Taylor brings a character to life with seemingly effortless details. From the small-town ambitions to the watches in the safe, every line adds another piece to the picture. Suddenly, we're not just hearing a song. We're getting a glimpse into a man's dreams, his priorities, and the life he's built around them.

The guys dig into the lyrics they loved, the symbolism behind Babylon, and the nostalgia woven throughout the song. They also explore one of its most powerful themes: sometimes we don't understand the value of what we have until it's gone.

Taylor's writing doesn't just describe a feeling. It puts you inside the story.

💔 WHEN TAYLOR'S STORYTELLING HITS HOME

One of the most memorable moments comes when Robert describes Taylor's ability to write about life in a way that people can actually relate to. It's a simple observation, but it captures so much of what makes her songwriting resonate with so many different people.

For Rick and Robert, Babylon hits on a particularly personal level. As husbands and fathers, they connect with the song's themes in ways that go beyond the lyrics themselves. What starts as a discussion about Taylor's storytelling becomes a conversation about life, love, family, and the things we sometimes take for granted.

And the guys have plenty to say about the production, the ad-libs, the lyric video, and how every piece of the song works together to tell the story.

✨ PLUS, BEFORE WE HIT PLAY...

We get into Taylor's love of hip-hop, the irony of The Life of a Showgirl's Encore following Eminem's Encore, and the crossover stories that connect Taylor Swift to the Marvel universe. We also discuss the joys of being a Taylor Swift fan during a new release, why other fandoms can leave us wanting more, and whether Robert is finally ready for a Game of Thrones watch-through.

Because apparently, we have a lot to talk about before we even get to the music.

So, what do you think of Babylon? Is it the kind of Taylor Swift storytelling you've come to expect from her? And which line hit you the hardest?

I've heard that Taylor took inspiration from Game of Thrones for her Reputation album.

Thank God!! Robert finally has something on his walls! I was beginning to be afraid he was 10 seconds away from becoming The Bolter at any moment

I actually think he lost the girl in the second verse. Instead of being with his wife and child in the third verse, he is sitting in his car thinking about the “girl who got away,” not realizing that he already has a beautiful life that he’s ignoring.

Loved the reactions to this one, from all of you... appropriate reactions... the guys just sitting there stunned 😯, just taking it all in. And Corrina just in her own little world, jamming and singing along 🫠🙃 just like me. My absolute favorite song of the whole record. It just hits home (no pun intended but I will take it) in a way that is totally different than any other song she's done lately. So calming, relaxing and lovely. Your reactions really fit this song. Thank you!
