Is This About Her Career?! | Mastermind Reaction - Journey to the Eras Tour Part 11

The Journey to the Eras Tour continues as Rick and Robert dive into Mastermind from Taylor Swift's Midnights.

Before we even hit play, we talk about everything from Caitlin Clark's Eras Tour shoes to Taylor's connection with Kobe Bryant, her longtime Knicks fandom, and Jack Antonoff's unmistakable production style. We also revisit the concept behind Midnights—13 sleepless nights scattered throughout Taylor's life—and where Mastermind fits into that story.

Once the song starts, the guys immediately notice an unexpected flow and spend much of the reaction trying to unpack the lyrics. Robert ends up loving the concept and the way Taylor delivers it, while Rick develops one of the wildest theories we've heard yet: Is Taylor intentionally playing the role of a psychopath?

That sparks a great conversation about whether Mastermind is simply a love song, a confession about insecurity, or even a letter to the fans about her life and career in the spotlight. By the end, the production has grown on both of them, even if it doesn't quite crack their personal favorites from Midnights.

Join us for another deep-dive discussion as the Journey to the Eras Tour rolls on!
