This Song Should’ve Been a Single… | Getaway Car Reaction 🚗💔
Today’s Hazed Reactions episode is all about vibes, chaos, and one of the most underrated songs in Taylor Swift’s entire discography: Getaway Car from the Reputation era 🖤🚗💨
In this episode, Corrina, Rick, and Katie kick things off with pure Friday energy (shenanigans, jokes, and a slightly unhinged mood) before diving into Taylor Swift’s Getaway Car lyrics and why this song has become such a fan-favorite among Swifties.
Even though he's heard this song in the background before, this is Rick’s first time really listening to the story in Getaway Car, and we talk about it all:
The storytelling and lyrical genius behind the song
The universal experience of rebound relationships and emotional escape
Why “nothing good starts in a getaway car” hits so hard
The layered meaning behind Taylor Swift’s Reputation era themes
The production brilliance and signature sound of Jack Antonoff
Why this song ABSOLUTELY deserved a music video
We also talk about the iconic behind-the-scenes moment of Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff writing the bridge, the Eras Tour callback, and why Getaway Car continues to be one of the most beloved deep cuts from Reputation.
Rick gives his final thoughts and even adds the song to a personal playlist (not just the Hazed Reactions one 👀), which says everything you need to know.
Plus — we tease some future Taylor Swift content, including:
Our upcoming Eras Tour reaction series
A possible Taylor Roulette series (randomized song reactions 👀)
Deep dives into Taylor Swift’s career timeline
If you’re a Swiftie, a Reputation stan, or just love music reactions, lyric breakdowns, and fun group discussions — this is the perfect Friday watch.

When you do King if my Heart please do it from the Rep Tour as so much better than studio
Well done again.
The Rep Tour version of this song... with the preperformance video of her standing in the dry, flat lakebed with the red and blue smoke cans in reverse, reading the poem(?)... "may your heart remain breakable, but never by the same hand twice"
Yess I can’t wait to show them this but Robert couldn’t be with us this recording day so didn’t wanna do that version without him! We will soon though!
Such a poetic way to describe a rebound
It really is 😅 like out of all her songs for exes, this is in the “that wasn’t too bad” category for me haha 🤣🫶🏼
Getaway Car love makes me so happy! She is so adorable in her performance of this song on the Rep Tour video.
Yesss I can’t wait to do the live! Robert was busy this recording day so didn’t wanna do the live without him and doing this song was soooo unplanned lol Rick happened to hit play on recommended songs while we were on break and this came on and Katie was like “SHUT THAT OFF WE HAVE TO DO A REACTION TO IT RIGHT NOW!!!” 🤣🤣🫶🏼
Another one i hear the Tour performance in my head, every time... love this song...love your reactions... girls jamming, Rick just bopping along... fun and funny 😁 😂
Yess same! Can’t wait to show them that, just didn’t wanna do it without Robert and he couldn’t record this day 😭
Ok, when he said if you're a funky white boy I had the Oldie song Play That Funky Music by Wild Cherry go through my head. 🤣
🤣🤣🤣 yessss!!!!
Fun reaction. Thanks for doing. I really like this song too -- and the lore is really juicy. lol. Her wanting to leave Calvin Harris via Tom Hiddleston after meeting at the Met Gala (where "the ties were black, the lies were white, in shades of gray in candlelight") And SO clever. lyrics... "Think about the place where you first MET me." That 2016 Met Gala was certainly a memorable night, because I believe that's where she first met Joe Alwyn too....
Yeah honestly I’m mad I didn’t tell him the backstory to this. I wasn’t super familiar with it and this song was not part of our planned recordings for that day so it was kinda thrown together BUT I wanna do the live with Rick and Robert so I’ll make sure to explain the story when we do that! I think Rick will like that because he actually knows who tom hiddleston is unlike majority of the guys she dated that I tell him about lol
