Episode 29: Fake Goths

As the goth talk was going I was picturing my experience with modern goth girls online and I felt like they were just bad rip offs of Elvira. They often dont get the character right. Then Johnny mentions Queen Nephie and she is basically that exact thing, a quippy awkward ripoff of Elvira that looks more like Mavis from Hotel Transylvania, also she uses a lot of risque porn-esque camera angles in her instagram videos, so the sex work advertising tracks. It doesnt really affect me, I suppose, but I do understand getting that disingenuous vibe and I just dont really like the character she was putting on.

Possibility queen nephie and those other goth LARPers are probably doing a belle delphine content shift to build an audience before opening an OF or something similar.

You absolutely does not have to see odyssey in 70mm imax, it’s framed for widescreen, i saw it in normal 70mm and it was fantastic

Very good episode. Loving Johnny's takes on Ignacious J Riley, I've been readng Dunces on and off since the spring. Johnny, don't get so hung up on people not liking your takes. Your authenticity is one of your biggest strengths. Meg, keep on collecting weird little guys. I also love Alex Pardee's work, I have his Watchmen piece from a million NYCCs ago framed and hung up in my room.

Watched Odyssey in 70mm not imax and at no point felt like I was missing anything.

Damn good sode! MSI is such a bad memory of my edgelord days because that was all it was. Like “What? He’s rapping using the N-word” before I found out it was a Method Man cover. A guy named Jimmy Urine is a BAD GUY??? I can’t remember which song and don’t even know if it was real, but didn’t he take his dick out and bronco-buster a dude on the stage? Never thought it could be staged though. I’ve been annoying my wife with “Homer Let The Barts Out” because we’re so anti-AI, but damn I hate how I love this stupid ass song.
