The Dark History of Cyberpunk 2020: Before 2077
Welcome to the darkest timeline. Today on Acceptable Losses, DK and Kirioth to dive deep into the gritty, original lore of the classic tabletop RPG, Cyberpunk 2020.
Before the neon-soaked streets of Cyberpunk 2077, the world had to completely fall apart. We explore the massive divergence in the alternate history timeline starting in the late 1980s, revealing how a secret government cabal known as the "Gang of Four" dismantled the United States from the shadows. From the catastrophic global market Crash of '94 and the martial law of "The Collapse," to the horrific Wasting Plague that wiped out millions, we cover exactly how the American Dream turned into a corporate nightmare.
Then, we shift our focus to the only place that truly matters: Night City. We trace the tragic ambition of architect Richard Night, who purchased a ruined Morro Bay to build a self-sustaining corporate utopia, only to be assassinated before his vision was complete. Discover how Night City evolved from a mob-ruled warzone into the ultimate, inescapable corporate cage it is today.
Grab your mirror shades, Chooms. It’s time to get sad.

The crop kills on coca plants and poppies was against drug production (coca-> cocaine, poppies -> heroine), but yeah these parts of the world rely A LOT on drug agriculture production
Im still wait8ng for the "et tu ?" T-shirt But should it be warhammer with different faction weapons stabbed in the back. Or different IP weapons...then bricky gets his omni blade
The guy who retired before the US assassinated the co.pany was so happy.
Nah Possum is more like Beeman from Constantine
1:18:00 unironically agree with that gun law, for the goal of enforcing responsible gun ownership.
Please more Cyberpunk episodes
God I cant wait for when they eventually talk about the corporate wars and the rabbit hole that is
This is the only episode so far that i had to stop listening, and change to something else because I got far too depressed
JOINED THE PATREON FOR THIS ONE IM SO EXCITED!!!
Operation Just Cause totally has no relevance to what's happening today! Crazy! (Me as a Venezuelan, waking up to the news of the US booting out my drug trafficking dictator)
The true source of existential dread... humans added to anything...
The gang of four know that the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a dirty bomb is a good guy with a dirty bomb. Oh boy, here we go flooding the inner cities with white powder again.
idk getting rid of all the drug crops doesn't sound horrible but I'm guessing it mutates and starts killing other crops that people need to grow food :/
The main lesson to take from this is if you wanna win a war against the USA, fight in a jungle. Good to know.
"yes, but what about 2nd vietnam?"
"Mr DK, a 2nd Vietnam has-"
"You like Reality, right?" *picture of Dk's skeleton avatar holding a mug*
Me and DK said “The Pitt-sburg” at the same time😂 i laughed way to hard at that
President Lincoln did suspend the constitution of the United States during the Civil War so yes, it has happened before
hey, DK. the whole "how did millions die cause of curfew" thing. think of it less like "a million people were shot in NYC" and more "a dozen people here, a few people here. a crowd here." it's still bad, but until you see the full picture it's less "bad" to the person without the full view. (i am not diminishing the idea of 1 million people dying, just explaining my take on it from when i was listening to this while driving)
Goddammit Cyberpunk, you nuked my hometown (Pittsburgh)
Its ok we had it coming
PEAK PEAK PEAK PEAK PEAK PEAK PEAK
I hard disagree with shy about the tarot. I personally thought its use was incredibly subtle, with the only two people ever really acknowledging it,being vik and misty.(one says its a sign while the other chalks it up to just being a visual glitch). It effectively captures the story of v and their journey through nightcity. It also highlights just how powerful the relic truely is by blending reality with its alternative ar viewing thanks to a new perspective in both life and death that the chip forces into V's head. The tarot are also REALLY beutiful and I want a deck just for the artwork they made.
Time to chrome up choom
Rev up the REO meatwagon
I love fictional history!
Hey I have a suggestion for an episode about the retreat from Kabul by the British where out of 4,500ish soldiers and officers and around 12,000 civilians only 1 man made it to the destination others survived but it took a little bit to find them. But besides that love the show and thank you possum you ludicrously handsome mammalian man.
With this crew, I'm wondering if the ep is called "Edging Runners" Either way... Let's GOOOOOO!!
Hell yeah
